I passed my General Flying Test yesterday! :yo:
I'm still trying to get my head around not having to get permission to go flying.

The last 3 weeks have been some of the most nerve-wracking I can remember.
I opted to take my FRTOL radio licence the day before my GFT so I've been boning-up on the radio calls as well as every conceivable gyro technical thing to try and cover both ordeals.

Radio examiner Irv Lee and Flying examiner Kevin Robinson couldn't have been nicer blokes. Both did their utmost to put me at my ease and couldn't have been kinder with comments during and after the respective tests.

Kevin made some especially useful points I'll be using in my pre-flight checks and my flying.

There's the small matter now of having to wait for the paperwork to wend its way through The System and for me to receive my licence, but I can't wait to get going.

This news is not in the same league as Norman making the 6 (?) hour flight over the water to Pakistan, but it's big news for me.

All the best,
Clive

PS. I slept like a log last night, for the first time since I booked the tests!

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!

Now be careful.

Clive:. I will 2nd Chris's congratulations. Reading each persons triumphs here just give me a nice flashback to my own flight tests. Its a nice feeling having the credentials to allow us this freedom. Way to go, and many more coming to you. Stan

Congratulations clive!!!

Congratulations clive!!!

You will now have a license to learn.

I found the license a wonderful opportunity to expand my horizons.

The ease of it was wondrous.

Thank you, Vance

Great job!

Enjoy!

I heard. As you were taking the test, I was taking delivery of my Magni at RAF Benson! Hopefully I will not be too far behind you!

WillyRose :

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

Always nice to here of a pilot leaving the nest.

Many happy hours await.

Congrats, Clive!

You'll now face the challenge of staying motivated to keep improving your knowledge and skills going forward. Preparing for tests is tough, but you may never be sharper than you are right now.

Fly Safe!

Well congratulations to both of you. A licence and a gyro, both pretty exciting events.

Many thanks, everyone.
I'm STILL getting my head around the idea.
I suppose it will only start to sink in when I book-out the aircraft for my first (and subsequent) flight(s).

Will, yours was a top-tip about trying out other instructors. Examiner Kevin is a very sharp operator (and a thoroughly nice bloke) and picked up several things I need to take with me every on every trip. He was more than a little exercised on Saturday about your aircraft being delivered to a closed RAF base. I hope to see it at the Microlight Fair.

Regards to all.
Clive
