Vance Breese Mentone 2020

Update - Todays FAA ASIAS update does include a short entry relating to this incident at Mentone on 1-9-20

The link does not work, Steve. I wish to learn what they concluded after a long discussion with the FAA when they called.
The rest of the story...
Yes, I knew it was coming. Greg reported Vance to the FAA. The FAA called PRA/me, asking for all the details, about a week or two ago. Time and I are not good friends so not sure how long ago it was.
Then he asked to put it in writing and I emailed them all they asked for.
After seeing the thread, he said we do not get involved in pilot vendettas, but had to investigate because Greg contacted them.

Thank you, Tyger.

Vance, did the FAA ever contact you?
This is a new low for Greg.

Watch out for what you post on this forum, we have at least one verified snitch.

Unfortunately that seems completely in character from what we have seen posted on the Forum from Gregg.

How sad.

If we can ignore the personalities which isn’t interesting as far as consistent reporting and the safety case / airmanship. Can someone keep me up around what the truth is here?

Speaking frankly what seems to be emerging is a totally different story to what was reflected on “day 1”.

As I read it now the aircraft did suffer an “accident” and from John’s earlier comments the aircraft wasn’t registered. Ian that accurately represented?

"Gerg" /Greg Mills/ NoWings/attached/wingless wanker ..... just accused ME of a "new low" ( I was not aware I even had an"old low" :ROFLMAO: !!) ...in a vitriolic exchange on FB between him & Greg Spicola ... I had not even participated on the conversation ... but my scrolling finger must have hit a like button on some stranger-to-me's nasty comment about Gerg ...so he loses his manure and rakes me over the coals! ..... well there you go .... HE JUST HIT HIS NEW LOW in his Alcoholic-fuelled hate & eternal festering over past perceived offenses ....just lash out without even considering an innocent explanation for an "out-of-character" event!
Well he has festered over his issues with Vance - as seen in recent posts ...& for a very long time ...since Mentone 2011 - when Jim's Tiggy-B was awarded "innovation award" ...blown much acrid smoke towards the "Toevs's gyro-ventures"!
I agree this is a very troubled & sorry-sack individual! I hope he gets help!

The FAA called the hard landing at Mentone an incident in the ASIAS report, see John’s post 90.

49 CFR § 830.2 – Definitions:

Incident means an occurrence other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft, which affects or could affect the safety of operations.

My description of the hard landing at Mentone has not changed since day one Phil.

.
I have not been contacted by the FAA about the Mentone hard landing yet.
I do not believe they will contact you then. The incendent report is filled. .

My view on the emerging story is less to do with how you described the facts around the “incident” (Potatoe/tomato) and more to do with it being something worthy of recording and then the radio silence around the legality of the flight of an aircraft that was unregistered- so I ask the same question again... was the flight legal?

Sorry to press but there seems to me a point of integrity here, especially since you are a flight instructor and the event was a PRA gig....

I looked for it on Facebook and could not find it Christine.

I hope he finds peace and serenity.

Welcome to the list of Greg’s moral transgressors.

I don't believe you are "sorry to press" and feel you lack integrity Phil.
Words have meaning and you appear to me to have trouble with that.
You have exceeded my tolerance for insults.
I am nothing like you Phil and am glad for it.

No, the FAA agrees with you it was not a legal flight, as even though it was N#'ed but it had not completed the process. The DAR was fighting cancer and it delayed it by months.
He said many certified aircraft have found the pilot borrowing or rentals to be out of annual and it's about the same thing to them. It happens, if it's not directly the cause of the accident then they do nothing.

The FAA is really not our enemy as many think. They have since 1974 only helped me. His only thoughts were what do we need to teach the pilot not how to punish him.
He asked if Vance was making excuses for the accident after or now and I showed him a quote where Vance fell on the sword and is using it as a teaching example of a dumb human trick of being in a hurry to fave fun and not checking the paper work or the radio with his helmet before he flew her. I suspect that is why he never called Vance. That and they do not get involved in pilot vendettas.

There is just to much political BS here. Why can't folks just stick with what really matters? Isn't the forum supposed to be managed? Why has this turned into a totally BS comment forum on our sorry state of politics as a country. Please, can we focus on Gyros?

Never worry about the FAA - General Aviation has no complexity points for retirement so they just do what is required.

"Yea I hovered next to them in the State park as they sat eating lunch under the high voltage lines, Guess they wanted a picture as they waved to me with a camera in their hands. What else do you want to know?" No action.

Yes but the motto "We're not happy until you're not happy" is just too funny.
It must be. As I'm still laughing as I type this. Good one Steve!!
