.Vance, did the FAA ever contact you?
If we can ignore the personalities which isn’t interesting as far as consistent reporting and the safety case / airmanship. Can someone keep me up around what the truth is here?
Speaking frankly what seems to be emerging is a totally different story to what was reflected on “day 1”.
As I read it now the aircraft did suffer an “accident” and from John’s earlier comments the aircraft wasn’t registered. Ian that accurately represented?
I do not believe they will contact you then. The incendent report is filled. ..
I have not been contacted by the FAA about the Mentone hard landing yet.
The FAA called the hard landing at Mentone an incident in the ASIAS report, see John’s post 90.
49 CFR § 830.2 – Definitions:
Incident means an occurrence other than an accident, associated with the operation of an aircraft, which affects or could affect the safety of operations.
My description of the hard landing at Mentone has not changed since day one Phil.
I looked for it on Facebook and could not find it Christine."Gerg" /Greg Mills/ NoWings/attached/wingless wanker ..... just accused ME of a "new low" ( I was not aware I even had an"old low" !!) ...in a vitriolic exchange on FB between him & Greg Spicola ... I had not even participated on the conversation ... but my scrolling finger must have hit a like button on some stranger-to-me's nasty comment about Gerg ...so he loses his manure and rakes me over the coals! ..... well there you go .... HE JUST HIT HIS NEW LOW in his Alcoholic-fuelled hate & eternal festering over past perceived offenses ....just lash out without even considering an innocent explanation for an "out-of-character" event!
Well he has festered over his issues with Vance - as seen in recent posts ...& for a very long time ...since Mentone 2011 - when Jim's Tiggy-B was awarded "innovation award" ...blown much acrid smoke towards the "Toevs's gyro-ventures"!
I agree this is a very troubled & sorry-sack individual! I hope he gets help!
My view on the emerging story is less to do with how you described the facts around the “incident” (Potatoe/tomato) and more to do with it being something worthy of recording and then the radio silence around the legality of the flight of an aircraft that was unregistered- so I ask the same question again... was the flight legal?
Sorry to press but there seems to me a point of integrity here, especially since you are a flight instructor and the event was a PRA gig....
No, the FAA agrees with you it was not a legal flight, as even though it was N#'ed but it had not completed the process. The DAR was fighting cancer and it delayed it by months. My view on the emerging story is less to do with how you described the facts around the “incident” (Potatoe/tomato) and more to do with it being something worthy of recording and then the radio silence around the legality of the flight of an aircraft that was unregistered- so I ask the same question again... was the flight legal?

The FAA is really not our enemy as many think. They have since 1974 only helped me.
It must be. As I'm still laughing as I type this. Good one Steve!!Yes but the motto "We're not happy until you're not happy" is just too funny.
