One of the interesting things about this is that they have made the motors and controllers available for retail now. The motors range from about 14 to 20 HP with the promise of even larger ones later. The motors are extremely light and compact.

Unfortunately, that rating is effectively impossible for a civilian to obtain, since there aren't any non-military ships out there in which you can get dual. Bell was reported to have pulled out of the civil 609 project and Augusta hasn't sold any. If you think finding a gyro to train in is hard, try a tiltrotor!
