I am setting up to fly cross country flights, will have my license by summer. This is something I have been think about for years and it's time to GET ER DONE.

A lot of prep is going to have to be done. First thing is getting a brand new 582, just paid for that today $5789 OUCH.

After getting that installed I need to modify my KB3 with toe brakes, Fallbrook (the runway I will be based out of) has a steep taxiway and I don't think a scrub brake will work

Next thing will be the tail. I have a Herron T tail, Need to cut it off the mounts and reweld it with an angel to the right to trim the nose back to fling straight, it flies in a crab now. Not a big deal for fun fling but for cross country my left leg will go numb

Then I need to install ADSB out. Not sure how that is going to work without an instrument panel, but I have some ideas.

An extra fuel tank needs to be added. And after adding probably 100lbs a hang test and new check plates.

Thinking of a handheld radio mounted on the side and probably a thigh strap for a small Ipad

Might need some longer blades to carry the extra weight, will have to see I have 23' 6" Rotordynes. They will do it just have to spin faster.

That is what I've been up to anyone wana Join in the fun.

Be nice to see some pics, and video of your prep and adventure as it unfolds.

What is your proposed route? XC flights are a lot of fun, and the preparations themselves are extremely enjoyable...

Planning will be fun and I will probably fly there first in a 2 place. I will be flying from Corona. I want to fly to L90 and to El Mirage. I want to fly the coast down to Oceanside. I liked your video when you did that.

contact me at "[email protected]" if you want to bounce off ideas...

Are you installing ADSB because you want it or because it is required? I was under the impression that aircraft without electrical systems (like cubs for instance) it isn't required?

If I can get around without it I will. One nice thing about it is that other aircraft will know I am there.

One nice thing about the blinkers on my motorcycle is that everyone will know which way I am turning and will pay attention to me.

Said no bike rider ever.

LOL Ya thats funny.

YES, I got my rudder cables today will install them tomorrow, and hopefully get the enclosure on and have my ride complete.

I'm not sure what happened to the rest of this thread.
