Serial # ?

I need a serial # for my AC in order to register it. Do I just make up one? how long, does it need letters? Thanks

Say you made it from plans, not from a kit and you assign whatever number you want to it. I called my gyro a Awad Dominator, #001 or something along those lines. I wouldn't say it was built from a kit unless you are the person who bought it new from aircommand and you built it. Otherwise you will have the worse case of headaches getting the registation assigned to your bird.
