M16 Extreme

Questo è un'alternativa autocostruita al Gyroflyng 360 una vera sospensione con 80 mm di escursione e ritorno idraulico regolabile in arrivo con pneumatici bush
This is for working hard! It's not made to look for something that fits!! It's made to decide where it is when you want to put it down!

Those large tires will go down fast on tarmac. They are meant to be used for grass or elsewhere. Tarmac will eat them up quick. Just for grass strips something like Turf Glide tires are better because they will also work reasonably long on tarmac although not 500 hours like normal tires do.
Agreed. My gyro came with turf tires, because Magni tests all its aircraft from their turf runway in Casaleggio. When we got it back to the US, we put standard tires on to finish my training at an airport with a standard concrete runway. My instructor said the turf tires would wear out very quickly on the concrete.
Well, I've been flying mainly off a grass runway for the last five years, and those standard tires have been working just fine, it seems to me. Admittedly my home turf is pretty smooth (if not exactly level).
Another benefit of standard tires is they are going to be much less draggy in flight, especially with the wheel spats attached.

Are you running the Aero Classics in Greg's maintenance manual? We think they've changed the compound, as one of the guys got 19 landings (on asphalt) out of a new one before it needed to be rotated :(

We're looking at the "8 Ply Aero Classic **New 2 Groove Premium** Extra tuff" tyres going forward...

Interesting. Yep, I've had to change out my nose tire once because it was starting to crack (that one was hard to find), but I'm still on the Aero Classics we put on back in 2018. I don't think I'll have to change my mains for a while yet, but et me know how that newer model works out for y'all.

Wow that works well Pete, is that now the magni version or is it still sportcopters retro fitted.

Wolfy.
A number or years ago my original one was a modified SC assembly but found the rubber absorption shocks were too hard & still popped the nose into the air. So started from scratch & incorporated a Fox gas shock & rubber over rides. The shock has numerous settings & I find the rebound at the slowest setting works best.
The Magni one which is going into production now will have a few changes, the main one being they have reduced the weight by 2kg by refining in a few areas & by using Chromoly 4130.
I have an M16 Xtreme due from the factory in 6 weeks for a customer & will be fitted with the their version and am looking forward to see how it goes.
We are operating 7 here in NZ the same as the one in the video & so far no issues. All are set up with a 17.5 “ Carlisle
tyres & rears the 26” Alaskan Airstreak tyres

Here is a video clip of my M16 Xtreme nose wheel assembly on a rocky riverbed. They really do work very well.

This is like a reverse tailwheel shock design from a bush tailwheel airplane. Did you do any coil over shock on the mains or just relying on big tires

Abid.
Initially I looked into a swing arm coil over shock set up on the mains but ended up going just with the 26” bush tyres & standard leaf spring gear legs. At 6 psi they soak up the bumps well & they provide good floatation on soft ground, sand etc.

I am currently using 22" bush tires on the airplane I did but in next version I am going to try fitting 29" ones with a shock on the tailwheel. I guess the only advantage of a coiled over shock would be you would not have to use such a big tire and bad landings would not bounce you back up which in a gyroplane at such slow speed landings is not a great issue
