FORSALE

For Sale - Used 'E' Box.
Bought a Rotax 582 with this 'E' Box from Bear Perkins at Bensen Days (2010).
Bear estimated that the engine (and Box) had clocked a little over 100 hours.
I plan to remove this box and install the 582 on my machine using the 'B' box I already have. So, the 'E' Box will be available.
The 582 has been sitting in the hangar at Wauchula since BDs.
If interested, email me [email protected] or PM me and we'll see where this goes.
Thanks,

Trez I may have this all screwed up but when I was at B days 2009 and saw that clutch mechanism that Tim Verroi had on his Butterfly I was taken by the safety aspect of the prop not turning when the engine was still running with people around.

When inquiring what I would need to possibly put that on our 503 Hornet I think I remember Ron said an 'E' box. Don't know if you had ever considered that? May not be a good go well with your particular engine prop combo, or something you wouldn't want.

Looking forward to being over early next year perhaps Feb March time, perhaps see some of you Morons. Still got a bunch of the Airworthiness restriction to work off, and Wauchula is our other airfield.

Those extra ponies will make a difference for you. Certainly did when we upped the 503 to the 532 on the Bensen I fly over here.

I know Steve Weir was looking for an E box. What is the gear ratio of your e box?

Leigh, the E box has a starter that drives the gearbox for starting, you cannot put a clutch on an E box.

Trez, I am interested what is the ratio? Looking for a 2.62.

Yes thanks Scott, I screwed up, it was a 'C' box not the 'E'.

Just remember... "E" electric starter....and "C" clutch. :D

and "G" for gee Scott is smart.

Naw Joe I am just good at remembering useless information, if I was really smart I would have been an airline pilot instead of a mechanic.... :)

OH BOY! This is worth a whole new thread.

Scotty, you got more brains in your little finger than a WHOLE BUNCH of airline pilots! Well, let's say, Delta pilots........
I'm NOT 'just sayin'..........
But they would argue with that!

Mark, I have a blue head 582 with a c box with 3.47 gears that I need to do something with. I also have a KB2 frame that I thought about doing a drop keel on. After seeing yours and Richard Kennedys machine and how nice they are, that this might be a good match. I had bought the 582 before I bought Dragonfly it has 200 hours on it.

Leigh,
I'm actually shopping now for a C Box with a clutch, since, not only is it nice to have the prop static while idling, but it's purportedly easier to start using the 'rope' starter.
It'll be nice to see you guys if/when you can make it to Wauchula.

Trez, you CAN use a clutch in the E box. The electric starter won't work with the clutch, so you can remove it and block off the hole where the starter fit in. It is a tad heavier overall than a C box, but not by much. Mounting a pre rotator to a E box will be the biggest challenge.

That's a big problem too. Gotta think on this.......

IF memory serves me well.... the E box is a 3:1 ratio.

This E box is 2.62. Dave Seace looked inside and said it looks like it has about 20 hours on it. Came from Bear Perkins at BDs.
RON made me buy this engine/PR. Now I'm glad he did.........
