Webber 750 engine

got the engine

got the engine

I spend almost all day yesterday driving, from Pensacola to Lessville LA (7 1/2 hrs of driving each way) But I got the engine. Boy do I have a lot of trimming to do. But the engine looks new, it only has 500 mile. That’s just the breaking-in point for the engine. I even got the intercooler for it, the snow mobile clutch (does any one need it?), turbo, alternator, oil cooler, exhaust, ECU and all its spaghetti of cables. Guess what I'll be doing in my time off?:flame:

you were very close to where I live and you probably came into Lake Charles where Michael lives.
I am glad to have another Weber engine in the works. With this many heads working on it, we are bound to come up with something useful.

Hey Doc !!!

Good show !!! Now you got some play time, hope it turns out to be everything you want !!

Tony

PS curiosity is killing me, what was a snowmobile doing down there ???

Your welcome for the tip on the motor..... I would of picked it up myself, but want a newer block than the 2006....

I will most likely be going with a brand new engine with a Motec ECU....

Your getting in at a perfect time, engine still reasonable and parts resourcing is almost done and there are a number of redrives available, Autoflight, Hirth and Rotax plus a couple of others that I can't remember, at the moment I am partial to Neils Autoflight, am anxious to see how he has coupled it up to the engine as I desire a flywheel in my set up. Mark is very close to a direct couple set up test run and will see how this turns out, it is VERY NEAT and compact. Now about all the is left in resourcing is various cooling and oil system options and exhaust systems options. As always we all look for the best cost value.

I may be leaning towards Neil's also once he lets us know how testing goes.... also need to know if it can handle 8000+ RPM or is it limited to the 7500 he has on his website.

If I go with Neil I will be looking for different engine mount options unless Neil develops some engine mounts also....

Michael

Most/all of Neil' gear boxes have two heavy bosses cast into the lower part of the adapter housing where two large bolts can be placed to support the power end of the engine. The mount it self will probably be a DIY.

I did not see the bosses on the Universal drawing I have.... but that's what I needed to know... therefore all I have to worry about would be a front mount... probably make something similar to Rotortec's front mount....

Well answered my own question... I went back to my dyno sheets on the motor and realized.... motor actually tops out on Tq b/w 7400/7500...

So I will be using a reduction in the 2.5:1 range to get 3000 at the prop for max static thrust reasons....

I'm also partial to Autoflight and most likely I'm will go with him as soon he makes it available. The snowmobile engina is rated a little higher than stock engine. So:yo: I think his box would do better, torque wise.

There is virtually very little difference between the 06-10 engines. The thermostat that 06 - 07 was 155 degree, from 08 - 10 has a 180 degree one, also the ECU was re-flash(update), but all of the changes that has been made to improve performance, you can do them yourself. $3000 vs. $6-7000.00 depending who you buy it from and without exhaust, ECU, intake just the bare engine. I think I got a good deal.

Yep, I drove to Lake charles on I-10 them north on 171.

Doc

Your got better than a good deal, you got a "new" engine and let someone else do all the break in work !!!

Tony

the Engine went through many small changes in 2007 with Rev 1.1 and 1.2 including a different block, cylinder head, thermostat, etc.

Probably not much difference overall, but I would prefer 2008 or later.... but that is just personal preference.....

it was a great deal.... i have to give you that... it may be one of those where I hit myself in a few months when the gearbox is sitting on the table and I am still getting funds together for the engine....

to upload photos hit the go advanced button and it will bring up a new page... just below where you type it has a function called "manage attachments"... click it and see if you can figure it out... fairly easy and let us know if you have trouble.

Tony,

The guy in Leesville is from Colorado.... he is down here as a civilian military contractor (Fort Polk is in Leesville)..... so he was selling it as he will be down here for a while and he can buy him a new one when he goes back to Colorado I assume
