I have lots of hours in super cubs, huskys etc, but am thinking about building a gyro. I would really like to ride in one first or see one up close. Not sure if anyone owns a gyro in Wyo or not. Thanks.

Greeting Coyote!

Good idea to get a ride, well sort of!

I'm a FW pilot too, love Super Cubs, and Ron gave me a ride and I've never been the same since!!!

These things are way too much fun. Like flying on rails and like having your own roller coaster or flying a Seadoo/motorcycle.

Low and slow or Yank and bank it's very different than FW even aerobatics and too much fun not to experience. Of course most can't fly like Ron!

This and PRA.org is the place to learn all you need to start!

I don't know who is the closest instructor to you for a ride but there is a list of them here:

Welcome to the Forum and more fun than should be legal!!!

Several in Salt Lake City

Several in Salt Lake City

Including a great instructor at Air Gyro in Spanish Fork, Utah. Just a thought.
Stay safe!

Ok, thanks. I am also looking at the different ones and their horsepower. I am sitting at 5500 ft and alot of my area here is over 6000. Some of the smaller gyros are probably not going to perform well here huh? Thanks.

Your altitude is not a problem if your gyro is set up for it, There are many of us that fly single place gyro's out of Colorado Springs and Denver without any problem at all. There is a beautiful Sparrow hawk that fly's out of Longmont that I could probably get you a ride in if you wanted.
Call if you want,

Sounds like you guys are having even more fun flying the gyros than we are in the cubs here. I can't wait to get in one. Hope I am not opening a big can of worms, but at my elevation what would be the least horsepower one would want in a single place. Of course different weights of different gyros are going to make a difference also. Thanks.

David Dunn lives in Newcastle and flys a RAF out of the airport there. I have flown it in Newcastle with me and David. Both of us weigh right at 200 and it flys very well with both of us. You can look up Davids phone under his fathers name Wayne Dunn. I'm sure David would give you a ride any time. PS-David works somewhere in central Wyoming building Cub look-alikes.

Coyote,

I spent 20 years in Rock Springs, but now live down in Utah. Altitude and Power issues are about the same here. We have an active PRA club in the SLC area, you should plan to come down and spend some time with us. We are having a Major Rotorcraft Event "Rotors Over the Rockies" on June 18th thru the 20th, just south of SLC. You should come down and check it out. There will be a variety of different Gyroplanes and flying out of the same kind of environment you will be. If you will send me a private message with your contact information I will get you added to my contact list and get you some information on our event. Welcome to the wonderful world of Gyros!!! You're gonna love it.

Gyro Doug
