I just got one of these (cost almost as much as your cycle).
my new toy...
Please don't take this post the wrong way Gary, but how long ago did you buy it? Have you used it yet??? If no, then TAKE IT BACK!
As a professional I cringe when I see Johnny Homeowner spend so much money on a riding lawnmower, especially a expensive one like a JD or Cub Cadet.
Why?
Because they are huge time wasters for the money.
I have one of these, cost me 4,000$ new but now I see Yazoo Kees has the same exact mower with red paint instead of Orange for 3,000$ new.... This mower would outlast a Riding mower, and would cost your lawn in half the time if not even less.
I also have one of these
http://www.scag.com/wildcat.html with the 61 inch deck and I can cut a average sized lawn in less than 10 minutes, front and back. Some of the smaller lots I cut in the newer subvidisions I can cut the whole yard in under 5 minutes and that is with being careful and slowing down while making turns so the tires don't rip up the grass. The little Husky is smaller and slower but not by much.
I have some older commercial mowers I sold to a friend years ago that he is still using daily. Both units have in excess of 6000 hours running time on them and still going strong. A typical riding mower will be lucky to see 500 hours before it is in the junk pile.
I strongly reccomend buying a good commercial unit if you want to save time, get a better looking cut and have a piece of equipment that will last.
John Deere has sold out more or less and the stuff they sell now is only a step up from the other brands out in front of lowes or Home Depot. You pay alot more cause it is green and yellow.
Again, don't take any of this as a negative Gary, just offering up 2 or 3 cents on mowers.
