Hey you guy's with Soob engien's, What kind of oil pres. are you running at idel verses full power?
Mine with high volum oil pump is around 60 psi, but after it runs for a while it slowly drops to almost 5 psi at a idel, if you add power it will raise with rpms of the engien back to normal.( engein runs perfect with no extra noises or knocks)????

That is the norm with the most of them. My 81 will go almost that low when warm. Pat McNear said that that was allright as long as the pressure came back up pretty quick.

I am going to try and put a oil line and gage on it so i can make sure the other one is telling me the truth. the one that is on it now is a electric type,(new) one at that. but it might be bad.
I sure hate to pull that engien back off, but i will in a hart beat if it needs it.I just dont wont to do that and do a inspection on it to find it like brand new inside.

I drive an EA82 in my wagon(88 GL). When warm, the pressure does go down low. Touch the pedal & she jumps right up.

On cold mornings, it will start up at about 45 lbs & then drop as she warms.

Once in a while I will actually check the oil. When there is none on the stick, I add some. Damn good engine. It has a leak that drips on my cat converter & smokes. The boots on my CV joints are gone also. They are making that noise in powered turns.

I might swap the CV joints out this summer with some spares that I have.

My wagon has single point FI (throttle body). Starts right up , even on the coldest mornings. Engage the 4 wheel drive & it goes through the snow & ice like it's not even there.

Put down the back seats, & it has the hauling capacity of a small pickup truck !

We love our Subarus !!!!!!!!! I want an Outback for the rest of my life.

Thanks for the info Chris,
I think you should go out and get that outback that you want !
Then pull the subaru EA-82 out of the wagon and put it on a gyro,(lol) then you could fly above the snow! just kidding Chris.. take care.:)
