No horizontal stab needed.
I would like to survey customers of what manufacturers are selling rotor blades for gyroplanes with twist. Any information would be very appreciated.

1. Who is building gyro blades with twist?

2. What diameters are they making available, what cord?

3. How much twist, and is it a constant twist from hub to end, or more twist at the hub tapering off toward the tip?

4. Where do they set the pitch, and how much?

5. What are the tip speeds? Or RPM and Diameter if you don't know.

6. Did you see a performance increase? How much?

7. What is the price range?

Any information would be greatly helpful.

I'm trying to see whats available, and how it compares with what I built for UAV use. Just want to know how far off or close I was to others experiences.

Dennis,
I was learning to fly with Bensens 22 foot. In July the gyro would come off the ground but sink back down. I probably was flying too much back stick then. I had a new set of DW but I did not want to learn on them. I eventually put them on because I had to taxi fast to get into the air with the Bensens. I was expecting the same performance and found out I was coming off the ground much shorter at much less ground speed. Needless to say the the DW did put me in the air with ease. I weighed 230 lbs then. I think DW have 6 degree twist. Ask Ernie, he makes them. The rotor speed was about 25 rpm difference. I think the DW were faster. I extended the hub bar on my Bensens to 4 ft to get the same lift on take off as the 22 ft DW.

All Dragon Wings have a twist built in. Come in many lengths also,
Some guy in Florida builds 'em, :)

Dennis the blades on the mosquito are DW's but have little twist. I believe the twist is progressive as you move tward the tip. Also, do a search here, I think it has been posted that the blades are set at 2* and the twist is 2* neg at root and 2* pos. at tip with pitch being measured at center of blade.

I have not taken any measurements, this is hearsay.

Phil.

P.S. the performance is excellent, and with practice and rotor understanding, handstartable.

try rotor flight dynamics in FLORIDA (813)-634-3370 the blades are called dragonwings they are highly recommended

Chuck Beaty can tell you what you need to knowDennis,He is the formost authordy on rotor blades.

What does the twist do? I always thought the blades were straight.
