ZEN1 tested for biological crop protection

AAT started tests of new equipment to eggs atomization of Trichogramma fly. This is one of the newest biological method of plant protection. In close cooperation with Biocont company we develop the use of a Zen1 gyrocopter for aviation agricultural operations - applications of Trichogramma to maize.

here I put some photos from last introduction of Trichogramma in Poland. All the time we are supported by scientists who do all the tests and research to make every next introduction better.

I notice that there are two different gyros in these photo's.

How is the performance of the gyro with the different props?

The initial tests were flown with the fixed pitch DUC prop.

Later, on the green machine the Kaspar variable pitch prop is used.

The change increases both the take off performance and top speed.
The cruise speed is increased by 10-15 kph.

National Day of Maize

On 1st of September we took part in National Day of Maize in Stary Gołębin village. Our gyrocopter and agro services aroused great interest among the visitors.
Our test pilot did a demonstration flight using Zen1 gyrocopter with Trichogramma introduction equipement.

Trichogramma test results – Agro Show

Last weekend we presented results of tests conducted by Aviation Artur Trendak, Biocont and RAPS companies and University of Life sciences in Lublin. The report prepared by scientists concerns the effectiveness of the Trichogramma aplication conducted in order to protect corn against European corn Borer.

The results are very positive - the effectiveness of application in Wołczyn and Sulików exceeded 80%. Due to such high effectiveness and rapidly spreading plague of European corn Borer we began the process of taking orders for our gyroplane agro flights for next year season.

The application during the tests was made with such conditions:

Altitude: 5-7m (16,5 – 23ft)

Width of spray: 18m (59 ft)

Speed:100km/h (60 mph)

Efficiency: about 80ha/h

Michael,

I wish you much success with the agriculture application for the Xenon. I personally know very little about crop spraying but when I researched it for the US market the ag people I talked to indicated the payload of the Xenon was a bit too small to be cost effective for pesticide application but could work for fertilizer which I guess is a lower volume application.

The dose of trichogramma is just few kilograms for 3h flight covering 240 hectares.
Have a look on the images. Just 4l bottle of the fly eggs per side.

Farm Machinery and Processes Management in Sustainable Agriculture

VI International Scientific Symposium “Farm Machinery and Processes Management in Sustainable Agriculture” held on 20-22 November.

During that Symposium Prof. Małgorzata Bzowska gave a lecture about BIOLOGICAL CORP PROTECTION USING AUTOGYRO-MOUNTED SPRAYING SYSTEMS. For the example of use Zen1 gyrocopter. After the lecture session there was a discussion between the scientists about new agriculture solutions.
