There are some speculations that initial trials of FA330 are performed
in Greek waters during the late 1941. and early months of 1942. on board of this ship

"Zmaj", bulit 1928-30. at Deutsche Werft in Hamburg like hidroplane support ship
for Royal Marine of Yugoslavia. In 1941. taken over by German navy and renamed "Drache" with 15 kt top speed.

Same ship in operations like "Drache"

Hi Djani,

the definite book on the Fa330 is, as far as I know, the one below. It does not mention any trials of the Fa330 in Greece. The aircraft has been towed, though, behind German S boats in the Baltic as part of the crew training on a regular basis. Part of the training also was taking off from and landing onto a lorry, driving along a German highway.

The aircraft in this picture is not a Fa330 but a helicopter Fl282, you're switching to another subject...;-)

What aircraft are we talking about?

That's right Juergen,

Just mentioned "other trials" and quote of Fi282....
Sorry, that can be more clear, other rotorcraft type trials on the same boat.

So "Drache" only know use are for Fi282 trials in Greek waters in late 1942. early 1943.

Regards
Djani

The book I quoted above does mention trials of the Fa330 in the Baltic on German auxiliary cruisers "Greif", "Komet" and "Moeve". Trials on "Greif" took place near Travemuende, trials on "Moeve" were near Swinemuende and Kolberg.
