I am proud to announce my world record , in the 2seat piston engine helicopters class, regarding high altitude landing performance at 12 000 ft. DA

My Rotorway with my own designed turbocharged intercooled altitude compensation system outperforms all of them, regarding hover in and out of ground effect .
I landed on a mountain plateau near Sani Pass in South Africa at 2900 m with 9deg C , (this is equivalent to 3200 m with – 5deg.C 10 500 ft. DA ) . I hovered with 2 persons and max. takeoff weight easily .

There after I flew to the highest elevation in the Drakensberg range called Mafadi in SA and landed at 3451 m with 5 deg.C , 12 500 ft DA
( Normally only turbine helicopters can operate at that altitude )

If you like it , a comment on YouTube and thumbs up would be highly appreciated .

The making of the record landing video consists of :
More than 100 video clips filmed in 6 different location on 6 different days , cut and edited in over 50 hr. work

Congratulations!

My factory piston/turbocharged Bell 47-G3-B1 has a 20,000 ft ceiling per the Flight Manual, but I guess it's technically a three-seater and perhaps in another category because there's more weight to lift. I have had it above 13,000 many times in the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada, and I find it requires more sensitive attention to rpm control than at low altitudes.
