B This is my first post on this so I hope to do it right. This is for everyone who stores their gyros during the winter. It can be done and still be fun. The length of my tracks in the snow during landing give an indication of the wind that day. Adding the windshield made it vastly more comfortable though. Pbool

John: those are *cool* pictures. ;)

How far are you located from Stan Foster? He's in Paxton?!

Close up pics of your ski's might be interesting to some other flyers...north of the M/D Line.

Cheers :)

Great shots! Thanks!

I flew through the winter last year but I did not this year. I found I am much more 'rusty' this spring having not flown since Nov.

Kids, Gotta love em!

Kids, Gotta love em!

I was showing my daughter the gyro on skies. My baby 26 year old. She said that looked neat but don't you need a hill to make it work? I go Huh? Then I had to explain that an engine on an aircraft does not drive the wheels when its on the ground. I think I got my money's worth on her college education. Yea, she is a blonde. ;)

b There was a suggestion that I put some pics of the skis on here. Last fall I modified the skis so I only had to snap them on over the wheels. This saved the hassle of taking off the wheels. It worked but not as well as I hoped. I am going to make some new skis this summer as the old ones are about 15 years old, except for the front one. I still have the brackets for the original mounting and have one posed just to show how it looked. In order to keep the skis from twisting from side to side I had to buckle the straps so tight, that the only way was to partially deflate the tire, buckle it, then reinflate the tire. Even then they could move around and it was much heavier. The skis are old water skis that I bought at the salvation army. Some pics show a fin on the bottom of the ski. These are essential. I also looked up Paxton, Ill. and estimate it to be about 150 miles away. One ski that is staying the same is the front one. It snaps on and is much quicker than removing the wheel. John M

b Just a few more pics . One of these is of the Byron nuclear towers. This is as close as you ever want to fly to those things. Been there, done that, won't do it again. The other is just a bend in the pecatonica river. The shot on the runway is an old one because I still have the wooden prop on. JM

Hi John...

Hi John...

Nice skis, ever think of using skate board plates? Could be easier to keep straight.
How's the Pitbull coming?
