Where I live

Mike....When Chanute Air Force Base was open in Rantoul, Il....just 12 miles south of me....the Thunderbirds would do an airshow every few years. They would always fly up north right over one of our farms that fit their practice box.

What an impressive sight.

They were doing that in Tucson a week ago. I was surprised to see the the lone F-16 doing almost mach at low altitude over neighborhoods...
Very cool to see in the city....

I was just a little farther down the road in those days, at U of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.

My father was prof there from 78 to 2000......
I was there about 10 years ago and didn't recognize it from the growth....

Both the Blue Angles and the Thunderbirds performed at the Naval Base Ventura, Point Mugu a couple of weekends ago. Friday was for the military and their families, Saturday and Sunday for the public. It was very nice on Friday without the huge crowd.

I spent a little bit of time at Chanute AFB back in the 80's.
It was the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
We used to have pizza delivered about 4 days a week, LOL

if there is any drone view to share with us, that would be nicer!
No just stood in my front yard and watched. There will be another show tomorrow. I don’t have my drone ticket and I don’t know how to fly those things. Give me a gyro any day.

I live right at the end of Seymour Johnson's runway, the F-16 jets practically brush the top of our house. This year the Blue Angels will perform during "Wings over Wayne" at SJAB. Can't wait, GO NAVY....

That is the reason the FAA over reached with drone regulations applying to anything over 3oz. that flies!!
Idiots with DJI drones were flying in the flight paths of airports and the feds had to look like they were doing something, so they over regulated...

The "SJ" resident 4 FW fly F-15E Strike Eagles - twin engine twin tail noisy beasts rather than the single engine single fin smaller F-16.

Had some of your "LN" 48 FW F-15s over my house earlier too - calling as CARD 31 Flight and ARIES 11 Flight, great noise.

It is illegal to operate a drone within any controlled airspace (Class B, C, D, etc) and within the boundaries of an airfield without prior communications with ATC and/or pre-approved permission from the FAA. Without, the activity is irresponsible and dangerous.

Every October, the Los Alamitos Army Airfield is the staging base for military aircraft for the Huntington Beach Great Pacific Airshow. I come out and assist in Operations for those shows. The Blue Angles, Thunderbirds, Canadian Snow Birds, and back in 2019, the RAF Red Arrows staged out of "Los Al." The Airfield could never host a flying airshow because of the close proximity to Long Beach Airport and the impact on commercial operations there. There is quite a bit of urban sprawl around the base too.

Here's a video from one of the "local neighbors" in the City of Los Alamitos of the RAF Red Arrows coming back to the AAF after their performance along Huntington Beach. Being foreign visitors, not much could be done since they pulled off the maneuver well inside and not exceeding the ceiling of the Class D airspace. All of us standing outside of Flight Operations were just "lovin' it."

During the off-airshow season at Nellis AFB, the Thunderbirds practice their full airshow routine every Saturday afternoon on the airfield. When "in town." my wife and I will go to the Thunderbird Hanger and "watch our own private airshow" on base.
