When we go for a cross country flight...or drive, the possibility for things to go wrong is always there. There are ways we can prepare, precautions we can take, but as happened here, how little things snowballed ending in a tragic loss... and an amazing survival.

The video is about a retrieval after the event, but also of what went wrong, how in events like these air search /support can play a huge part, how small mistakes could have made a difference, and taking some basic items along with them could have seen both survive.

No gyros here, but might provoke a bit of thought into facing such a situation if one went down in remote areas. Anyone know where you were going? Items you might want to add, like location devices/emergency communicators. There are some good ones out there.

Perhaps how we might help in persons lost situations.

A thought provoking video, from Mike Patey who has done search and rescue missions for some years and I thought worth a watch.

I wear a vest with a items needed to survive if I have issue in baron places in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Main item is Garmin InReach mini for sat communication. Not uncommon for hundreds of miles of nothing out there.
