When and where is Bensen Days 2005 going be held?

Tim, you would be surpised how much stuff you can fit on a small trailer if you load carefully. Remember me rig from Bensen Days? A airplane and two motorbikes and all my camping gear on a 16 foot landscape trailer! I have also hauled two Dominators at the same time on a 6x14 foot trailer.
Ron,

That was really impressive.

However, from the rain going to Mentone, I spent most of a day and night drying out my gyro and geting the wet highway grime off of it. I had g-bags on the rotorhead, carb and a cover over the cockpit and I still found plenty of work cleaning and drying.

Bikes are a good point. I need to remember to bring a few scooters/mopeds too if I bring the 447 down.

If someone out there is or knows a private truck owner have them email me. Maybe if we can get a gaggle of gyros from IN, OH going down we can make it work out for everyone?

Scared of flying just because the FAA is around? Just what are you guys up to?
It will probably be Bensen Days, if we get all the underwriting logistics worked out before then. When I was given this project nobody realized that we don't even have a category for gyros! To think the conversation started with "I have a simple little task for you...".

I'll be at Bensen Days again in 2005 even though I don't have a gyro yet. I usually go for a couple demo rides and video tape as much of the flying as I can. Now I've got a miniature video camera I'd like to try mounting on some gyros to record some flying video if I can get some volunteers to let me mount it on their gyros. I'll be glad to provide DVD copies of the flying to the willing participants. I've tried the camera on my friend's ultralight with great results.

Ron, I'll take you up on that. I'm working on getting some different mounting pieces so I can mount it on just about any size tube. I use gaffers tape under the mounts on the tubes so it won't scratch the tubes in any way. I've also got a mount for helmets that uses industrial strength velcro strips to attach it to the helmet. I'll have my Gentex helmet with me for people to use if they don't want to put velcro on their helmets. I usually only go to Bensen Days for one day but this year I hope to be there on Friday and Saturday to have plenty of time to mess with the video stuff.

Hey rotopix, are you following this thread? If so can we expect some more 360 imageing this year?

It was REALLY cool, are you going to Bdays??

Tim,

You can put a camera on my gyro too. If I bring the 447 you can get slow motion video! ;)

Ron, do you think you can use your super-human selling powers to sell my 447 and get me a ultrawhite or butterfly at bdays??

I don't think I could sell the 447 myself, I have become too emotionally attached. I suppose I could just improve the performance by getting a set of used dragonwings but the 2-place keeps eating my blade money with it's engine problems and it's pretty rare that DWs show up on the used market.

It is going to cost alot more than a blade upgrade if you sell this and try to buy a Ultrawhite or butterfly! Let me know how much you want for it and I will look into my crystal Ball and see if I think it can sell. Might be better money spent if you upgrade it to CLT and replace the 447 with a 503. I think you could do that for less than what the difference would be between what I think you could get for the A.C. and what I know a new gyro will cost.

I know that Barrys gyrobee with Rotax 447 and 24 foot Sportcopter blades flew fine. Seems like you should do okay with yours..... You weight less than me. The aircommand is simple and light, I would be surprised if it weighted much more than the bee.

In the winter and early spring she is fine. However, in the hot humid summer, full tank of gas and my 190lbs I have to fly at full throttle all the time and the performance is quite marginal.

If I could loose some weight on the blades and improve blade performance I think I would be happy with her. Compaired with Rodney's bee I think my AC might be much heavyer. Also, I think the classic version I have with the empennage butt-up to the prop reduces performance.

Notice, me going on a diet was not one of the factors I considered;)

What I'd like to do with the video stuff is to get a couple of you guys teamed up and have one video the other , land, swap camera gear and then go up again and get the other one video. The more air-to-air stuff the better.
