When and where is Bensen Days 2005 going be held?

Ron, The Where is Wauchula Fl again and forever it seems. FOF is not inclined to let Gyros fly but once or twice a day, and really dont want us there. Now that Richard has gotten to the bottom of what the real reason is they keep putting us off. Richard and Davie are not happy and are still trying to Keep the lines of Communication open with FOF.

MJ :) Dates to come after our New Years Meeting and Elections.

M.J.
What about Pompano Air Park?
Nah . . .to many houses around . . .
But consider a visit here soon, ok?
Whats the action for this weekend? We are planing to take Hector's Dom to either Imokalee of La Belle.
Heron (thanks)

Heron, Sorry but no Pompano. We had A Wonderful Fly-In last weekend great weather. Now if I can just get the newsletter printed, in between Doc visits, test etc. As my Grandmother used to say My Cup Runith Over!! Best bet this weekend would be Immokalle.

Hey Heron get your new Group together and make it to Wauchula for the New Years Fly-In. With such Great Weather here in Florida New Years is the Place to be. Fly Fly Fly! Who knows maybe you could be the next Secretary for Sunstate.. MJ :)

ps/Catfish finally got his machine up in the air Saturday Eve, Pat McNear and I thought we were going to have to shoot him down after 45 min, of around the patch, and around......

I have been buzzing around the airport "authority" trying to entice him for a visit of some giroplanes.
He started to like the idea, after some videos!
Three years going there and talking to them I am persistent! :)
It is a beautyfull place and I think our guys will enjoy it, we are planning hotel for the pilots, free gas and big barbecue, sounds good for a weekend?
. . .and we can go to the Brazilian Tropicana and see the show after pig out on meet till you get sick!! ??
Heron

FOF, FOOFers.

FOF, FOOFers.

Do not waste anymore energy with those spoiled brats.

Gee, I guess I know what I am talking about. Can I get credit for having said so about 88 times ??? Believe me, I love people and I enjoy wealth...... But the grey poupon karma I am better than you is soo thick over there I had to take 2 showers to get the grunge all off.

I have got words to describe the folks at fof, but I cant use them in polite company. Gratitude is no where to be found there. Unless you got a fat bank account and some rare machine, they might consider letting you in for the hour.

they are not going to let a bunch of us unwashed hooligans tear up the joint for a week. The field is also not really optimial for a fly in anyway.

what was this airport near the beach in sc that rusty nance was rumored to be talking about. ???

Jonathan

Fantasy of flight. It is a private museum and airstrip located off Interstate I-4 west of Orlando. It is a nice place and a super Location. But apparently they are not wanting us as much as we thought they did, and there is no power or water for us to use for camping and that won't work for us either. FOF also is a grass strip. You would be surprised how many gyro pilots are too picky to fly off grass.

Ron: My son and I were driving south of Orlando going to our alligator hunt. I vaguely remember a DC3 on the west side...and I thought it had Fantasy of Flight printed on it. Is this correct?

Fantasy of flight is a wonderfull aircraft museum where most of the stuff flies. It is where I got a ride in a 1929 New Standard and had one of my most inspirational historic aviation experience. I felt I was in a 1930 barnstorming poster with the afternoon thunderheads and climbing watching the spring and paddle airspeed indicator at 60 mph. They have a very unusual autogiro and a nice bell 47. Perhaps I am not sensitive enough to the cultural conflict, every one was very nice to me and the food was good in their restaurant. I beleive that Kermit, the owner, likes to make fun of the rich. I would recomend Fantasy fo Flight to anyone. There is a mobile home park next door and the people there didn't seem too stuck up. It doesn't have the ambiance of Wauchula though. Thank you, Vance

Yes Stan that DC-3 is a FOF advertisment of sorts. The place is just a little further up the road to the west of that plane.

Was the point of the FoF fantasy to publicize gyros? If so, it sounds as if a well-orgainized group XC flight there might work better than turning the place into our personal RV park and racetrack for a week.

I agree 100 percent Doug. Only problem is there is you could count on one had the number of gyro pilots at these fly ins that would be willing to go more than a mile or two away from the airport.... Much less a 50 mile each way Cross country.

We have had some luck in getting a small group together to fly over to Sebring to have breakfast there. But there again, it is only 4 or 5 people that will go and Sebring is alot closer than FOF.

What are the dates for Bensen Days 2005? And will it be at Wauchula?

I can't wait to go but I am undecided about which if any gyro to bring down.

Last year I flew down (commerical) and rented a car. I had a great time but the only air time I got was training. Now I am no longer in a crunch for training and would like to fly at B-days for pleasure.

I brought my 2-place to Mentone on an open trailer towed by my pickup. The weather got bad, soaked my gyro and the wind was making my trailer 'wag-the-dog'. I would rather knaw an apendage off than go through that again.

I guess I would need to rent a truck but I know that trucks are generally not as tall inside as my two-place is. Thus, at best I would have to take my cheekplates and rotorhead off.

So I guess it is looking like my trusty single place. You guys will have to give me and my 447 a 30min head start for the breakfast run!

Hey Tim... if you didn't spend all your time making that cool pre-rotator you might have been able to figure out a folding mast :) :) Isn't there two of you ? jtm

James,

We have a collection of Tims. Tim Blackwell is making the UL prerotator. I would like a folding mast but too late now, I'm not gona take her all apart again.

He IS busy, I just act like it.. ;)
