My good friend and CFI Dr. Paul Salmon passed away today. So sad He loved gyros and helicopters.
Set many records in gyros and helicopters. He was always my go-to guy for answers.
Paul my good friend, you will be missed.

What!! how?
Also a very good photographer. I loved some of the photos he had been posting on FB. I even thought about asking him to sell me a couple for my house.
So sad. May he rest in peace. My prayers for his family.

I was just watching his latest video on YouTube??? Spoken to him on the phone several times,,, what happened????

Oh no! Brent, how did this happen?

My deepest condolences and prayers to you, for his family and friends during this time of sorrow and pain.

This is a total shock. What happened?

So very unfortunate.

Over the years, I have known a number of friends including several physicians that have passed away while they slept.

What I am about to suggest is in no way inferring an explanation and/or a diagnosis on what happened to those individuals. Nevertheless, this unfortunate incident is a great reminder to ourselves. If we haven't done so previously, to ask our primary physicians for a referral to perform a sleep study to rule out the possibility of us experiencing sleep apnea while we sleep.

The American Heart Association suggest that as many as one billion adults worldwide suffer from sleep apnea.

The American Sleep Apnea Association estimates that 38,000 people in the United States die each year from heart disease with sleep apnea as a complicating factor.

The numbers of sleep apnea are high enough for the FAA to address this medical problem.

So take the time to find out and know what options one has if diagnosed with sleep apnea.

Browsing his Facebook page - Kim Houseman posted this! ...... "Please Keep Denise Salmon and Paul Salmon son Chris in your prayers. Paul Salmon passed away in his sleep this morning. Paul Salmon is Dean Housemanpartner at Cape Copter."

Prayers for the family ...a tough time of year for losses like this!

A HUGE hole in our Rotorcraft world with the loss of his wise teachings via YouTube!
A Huge loss too for his ER work family!

RIP Paul - an interview with you would have made great reading for us all!

RIP Paul, and condolences to friends and family. Wish I got to meet and fly with you in person ❤️

Thank you Chris. This is truly a great loss for everyone. A great honor would be to create a PRA award in Paul's name.

Wayne.

We never know when we will be called. I pray he was right with Jesus. I pray that everyone on the forum is also right with God.
I know some here may not appreciate this post but, I don’t want to be the guy that doesn’t say something that triggers someone to seek God. I believe Jesus is the only way into Heaven. I truly want to see all my Gyro buddies up there.
I can’t stand the thought that someone might have gone to Hell because I didn’t speak up.
I’ve lost so many people I’ve known over this year it’s become depressing.

So sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family. Never met Dr. Salmon, but followed his larger than life exploits from afar.

Oh no! The gyroplane community lost a good one. When it's your time, that's the best way to go.

He signed off for my gyro add-on. During the checkride, he said "okay, you passed. Now let me show you what gyroplanes will do..."

I've not visited RWF in a little bit, so I am just seeing this tonight. It is quite a shock.
Paul was my CFI during my required night dual training (for PPL), and he later agreed to fly with me (a newly-minted private pilot) from Perryville, MO to Hudson, NY as my sort of guardian angel in the back seat. We made that trip in one (long) day, right after he had pulled a night shift in the ER. My wife and I took him out to dinner that night, gave him a place to stay, and early next morning I drove him to Albany for a commercial flight back to St Louis. All this he did out of generosity and the goodness of his heart. He didn't charge me a dime.
He will certainly be missed a great deal.

So sorry to hear this news. I got the opportunity to meet Paul this past summer while I was in the Cape Girardeau area. He was a very kind & giving person. He gave me and my step-daughter free gyro flights and even gave me a "Cape Copters" T-shirt.
My condolences to all his family & friends.
