For the past three days our local KABC 7 Los Angeles weatherman Dallas Raines has been speaking with concern about Tropical Depression/Storm Ian growing into a Category 3 Hurricane. Majority of the "spaghetti line" models project coming ashore somewhere along the West Coast of Florida up to the Panhandle.

I hope and pray that many especially those on this forum mitigate themselves and their property effectively to minimize the negative outcome one may experience.

Please be safe

Center of the path on models comes right into Tampa Bay region. Expected to land late Wednesday or Thursday

Hopefully it will do what almost every storm pointed right at us and veer to the west of us or to the right before it gets to the state.

Yup 101 years since a major hurricane made straight shot into Tampa Bay. Seems to always go slightly west.

Well, in any event, it looks like all that weather is enough to screw up launch plans for NASA's Artemis moon mission.

I literally just finished watching Dallas Raines on KABC 7 Los Angeles during the 4 PM (PDT) news hour. He's one of the better local "weather prognosticators." The latest weather model predicts Ian to be a CAT 4 and the "spaghetti line route" has the eye landing on shore just South of Tampa. Will it happen "exactly" as predicted? Who knows. Wherever Ian comes ashore, many are in a world of hurt.

NASA has finally decided to "put away" the Artemis Rocket back into the assembly enclosure.

Please remain safe everyone.

Now the projected path takes it right over Zephyrhills. Great

Praying for the best for you folks Abid.

P.S. I think the name "Zephyr" means west wind.

Thanks. We did as much as we could. Hanger doors are strapped down and sand bags blocking the space between the doors and the ground so water cannot easily come in. Rest is all luck

Air National Guard Rescue & Airlift Wings around the country have been placed on alert to provide emergency airlift support. MQ-9 Reaper UAVs will be used in a photo reconnaissance role for real time aftermath destruction reports. Army National Guard units from neighboring states have been given notice to be ready to deploy for assistance if needed. Civil Air Patrol and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers around the country with Emergency Services and Emergency Management skills are currently being asked to deploy if needed.

I pray for everyone's safety.

How's it looking Abid? Does the projected ground track still have you on the bullseye?

Wishing the best for you folks.

We lived at Burnt Store Marina in 2004 for Charlie, still have friends in the area and this does not look good at all.

Eye just hitting landfall South of Sarasota at Port Charlotte, High winds in Sarasota have called for people now to shelter in place.

The eye will miss Abid in Zephyrhills and be well South of him. My son is at hunkered down in Riverview just southwest of Tampa Bay, so on the top fringe of the eye.

Wauchula wind speeds now showing over 100mph, heavy rains. Looks as though it will push on up over Orlando then exit the panhandle further north around Port St Lucie area.

Looks as though a lot of people are going to take a real beating. Thoughts and prayers for all the folks this passes over and effects.

State Governor De Santis coming across really well in his briefings, the State seems very well prepared, and it is heartening to see the efforts being made by neighbouring States to provide aid, assets, National Guard and volunteers to help and be prepared for the aftermath.

For those who are Amateur Radio Operators:

Hurricane Watch Net 40m (7.268) LSB
Hurricane Watch Net 20m (14.325) USB
SarNET Florida Network (444.075) FM

For those who are not Amateur Radio Operators, one can listen to HF frequencies through a WebSDR website. WebSDR is a Software-Defined Radio receiver connected to the internet, allowing many listeners to listen and tune it simultaneously. SDR technology makes it possible that all listeners tune independently, and thus listen to different signals.

Here's a website with a list of all the WebSDR receivers all around the world.

From the list, choose an SDR along the East Coast or the Mid-West of the US to listen to any HF radio traffic in regards to the hurricane. When the storm passes will be the time whereas the frequencies will come alive with emergency traffic.
