Probably around 1930, because Cierva had no idea of English when he moved to Britain in 1926. During the first tests and demonstrations of the autogiro in Britain, he communicated with the English test pilot in French...

P.S.: Cierva's biographer (Warleta) affirms that the book (Partly typewritten and partly in longhand) 'Engineering Theory of the Autogiro' was written by Cierva while in the USA, in September 1929.
