I'm harvesting my 3rd ECU , a 2001 Legacy 2.2L adding to two 2.5 Inlet manifolds with all the sensors , plugs connecters
and ECU's.

I'd appreciate any private email on notes on suberu wiring, especially all the sensors and switches that need ground or 12V
in order for the engine to run.

Tonight I was geting stung to death by mosquitos harvesting the Subaru till it go too dark.
At least I'm getting faster at it and applying all the ideas and skills you get from working
in aviation maintenance.

Subaru ECM will go to a "Limp Mode" if it has a problem..like High RPM, Fuel mix, O2 sensor error.
You will lose power. Best, tune-able & easiest is Microsquirt.

I would suggest an aftermarket, tunable ECU over the Subaru unit. There are enough RAF's around that you should be able to replicate a setup that someone has up and running, and they might even give you a copy of their tune as a starting point (starting with a blank tune can be tricky to get an engine fired up, and you may run way too rich/lean and damage an engine).

I will mention that I went to an aftermarket ECU called a Link, and it had a pre-configure setup for Subaru engine crank and cam sensors (and did not document specifically what that setup was expecting in way of sensors/pulses from the engine). I found the EJ20 motor I had put in place as a 'dummy motor' to test things out had a different sensor setup that would not work with this Link pre-setup, and I had to do quite a tricky setup under 'generic' options to get it fired up. Moral of the story, do some homework first before laying out any money to make sure any aftermarket ECU can do the job (maybe not all can, or may need the sensor pickups on the motor modified which is easiest before you mount the engine in place).
