Ran across some photo's of Viking powered Dom's with spring loaded shocks that Ernie just built. I called him and talked to him about purchasing these shocks, he can get them, but really expensive. Just thought I'd let you Dominator guys know, as a lot of us don't like the air shocks.

I haven't seen it but it sounds like it may be a good one since they are so dependable. Not sure of the weight but it can't be more than a Sub.

Ernie mentioned to me, he worked with the engineering dept. of the company supplying the shocks, to come up with a shock with the correct spring rates for the Dom.

The shocks on the latest Dominator Mike posted about are AFCO sprint car shocks.
I'm pretty sure they're the '16 series' small-bodied threaded shocks with the coil-over hardware and springs. AFCO offers a ton of spring lengths and rates, but they don't come cheap.

Its 40 pounds more installed than an installed 912ULS and about the same power (claimed 110 HP). Viking is done by the same people who did the Eggenfellner Subaru engine conversions for RV Exp-AB kit market. That does not exist any longer. Jan seems like a nice guy.

The engine is just as dependable as the decisions you make.

Yes Gerald had a Viking engine on his plane and was flying to Oshkosh to display at Viking booth. A great guy and grand dad. Not sure why he decided to scud run in an aircraft powered by an alternate engine and left himself no options in an engine out. He knew better. He was a student of mine.

A few Searey owners are interested in installing this engine in their home built aircraft. The Searey factory do not support nor encourage/dis-courage it

But do know that their claims are well a bit questionable and optimistic for at least the Searey

Be careful and fly safe.
