I love the forward and lateral visibility of the Sparrowhawk. My CFI, David Overman, is piloting in the left seat. Pardon the Photoshop artifacts. This picture is a composite of two images taken with a point-and-shoot. We are downwind in the pattern of S50, shown in the far left. The Emerald Downs racetrack is on the right. Since the pictures were taken at different times during travel, I had to move parts of the racetrack to make them match up.

Ear Plugs

Ear Plugs

Could you find out what brand of radio ear plugs he is wearing and how he likes them? Thank you!

Heather will you be buying a Sparrow Hawk kit? You are fortunate to be able to train in one beforehand. My kit when it is finished will be test flown by my instructor then he will train me in my own aircraft.
Colin

Colin,

Remember that he can't instruct you in your aircraft until after the 40-hour test period is complete. The FAA busted someone locally here for that violation a couple of years ago.

Paul,

I believe Colin is in New Zealand. I'm sure the regs are different there.

Gee, I wonder who that local person is that got busted? (The reprimand letter should be pulled from my record by now, as it was more than 2 years ago that this happened.)

I would have said something about this, but I did notice the New Zealand location. My silence was because I wondered if New Zealand recognizes the value and safety in letting someone have an instructor onboard during the first hours of flight on a green machine, regardless of the pilot's experience. Four eyes are better than two during the initial test flight stage.

Thanks for that, I guess you got the letter be cuz it was your bird?
