I got scamed by a member named sparkglow. He stated that he had a set of bensen blades for sale. I sent him money orders in the amount of $ 1,200.00 and paid a shipping company to pick them up. The shipper waited for 2 hours at the agreed pick up location but nobody was there. I called the postal service and they told me that the money orders have been cashed. He will not answer my emails or contact me. I am sick over this. I have been trying to find blades for sometime now. I had already been ripped off once before and these 2 gyros have drained me financially. I fear that I may have to sell them both and my dreams of flying are gone

was it samual jolly from Queens new york this guy is allways trying to scam me I and he did get my contact info from here.did get him to send me an actual name and mailing address so I could send him a check it had to be his real name to be able to cash the check.

If you compare aliases and originating ISPs, it may be possible to find a real location, or a host.
DASBUR got a mailing address, was it a residence, or a PO box?

The mods of the forum could probably look at IP addresses, also people receiving emails from the perp could look at IP addresses in the email headers, etc. to help find out where s/he is located (or at least was located when sending the emails). There are ways to make oneself difficult to trace, but most of these people are not smart enough to be able to use those techniques.

And, yes, because it has crossed state lines the FBI are the proper agency, however, if you MAILED anything via USPS the USPS Inspector General's office is also a good bet. The FBI usually won't get involved unless it's over a certain dollar amount. The USPS IG is more likely to investigate if it falls under their jurisdiction (something sent via USPS). And, believe it or not, the FCC may actually get involved because of the use of the Internet, though they are less likely to investigate than the USPS.

Many of these scammers will use mailing locations (like Mailboxes Et Cetera) that look like normal mailing addresses or even abandoned houses. I know it's after the fact, but always do a Google Earth search on any mailing address when conducting business like this.

It could also be a rental, or even some unfortunate soul caught up in a money laundering scam (less likely given the amounts).

If it is truly a residential address, calling the local law enforcement for the address may help, depending on where it is and which political party is running the city or state at the time.
