thumbing though FB 'forsale'...and a KB2 for sale came up.
I think this is the first time i've seen a fire extinguisher onboard..
Makes sense I guess.

I carry a fire extinguisher in The Predator.
It is more about saving the aircraft than safety.
Likely if I was on fire my rescuers would not find it in time to do any good to save my body.
I have seen several aircraft catch fire on startup and it usually can be extinguished easily with the correct extinguisher.

I hear ya! so many times I've heard, or experienced situations where
"man, I coulda saved that machine if I only had an extinguisher"
For me, I had 2 tractor fires I was able to put out with dirt or snow scooped up with my hat.. a hay baler I put out with a 12 pack of soda... and 1 combine fire that I used an actual extinguisher (all with success)
I prefer the 'pull pin and squeeze lever' style!!

I could convince my wife we NEED the extinguisher pictured, for $4500... But she doesn't need to know it just happens to be attached to a KB2!

I always carry one 😊
My Cavalon has a built in fire warning/suppression system installed.

I guess they exist, but I've never actually seen a hand-held Halon extinguisher except in military vehicles.
"Halon 1301 was never widely used in portables outside military and spacecraft applications, due to its limited range, and invisible discharge. It does not produce the characteristic white cloud like CO2 and is difficult to direct when fighting large fires."

I'm gonna say there's a better chance of that thing coming loose and causing damage than of ever putting out a fire...

I have a red-bottle Halon extinguisher strapped to the side of my tall, narrow central instrument pod in my Bell 47, where it is easily accessible and quite secure.

One of the FIRST extra's I installed on my Butterfly was a fire-extinguisher! Larry made me a nice set of custom brackets to attach it to my round keel tube ...below the seat!

In my TAG's I have one of those small spray-can types in easy reach in the front cockpit ( for a panel electrical fire!?)
In my forward locker (below the pilot door) I carry a regular fire extinguisher ... to save the aircraft / help someone else!

After Britta's experience a couple of years ago ...the ready availability of fire-extinguishers on landing with a broken engine -on fire- IS A PROVEN MUST!
