with the spring-damper /oversized heims!! My pics of Tim's, Glenns & Steve's @ Mentone 2012 ... these 3 must have 500 hours between them ... & no problems!

Good thinking, 500 hours would have told us there is a problem with the design or just one setup wouldn't it?

Ummmmm???????

Ummmmm???????

Post #183 look very complicated and highly likely for failure.

I think the bolt failed due to non proper prerotator start up.
The first 20 RPM is very critical to be done slow. This will stop the jerking and minimize twist on the tower and tower components.

BOLT FAILED IN OTHERTYPE OF PR-Butterfly head!!!!

The one in #183 is the old Monarch style used with 2 stroke engines!
Chuck & Mitch ... have flown these a lot with no known problems!!!

YES we are ALL AWARE of the need to be real easy with the first stage of PR ...
especially in the 912 set-up until the 90 R rpm level is achieved - then can add revs!

I am familiar with the comet style torque converter used, and vibration as it transitions thru its ratio's is inevitable. The belt "jumps" as its driver pulley's diameter increases.

My MLS prerotator worked flawlessly all of the 45 hours I had it.
