I see the Burrows Cable Gauge has range of 15 to 70 pounds for 1/8 cable. What is the recommendation for rudder cable tension and does angular routing, such as in a Dominator style raised keel vs straight such as a Bensen or Parsons, need to be considered for pulley and fair lead stress and wear?

I think that simple tensioning by feel so there is no backlash or slop when moving the rudder would be adequate. I would not want any static tension on the cables.

40 to 45 pounds on 1/8 cable routed around pulleys should do it. If you get too far below 40, at higher speeds you will feel a type of flutter when gusts hit the rudder/tail
