Aircraft
none own :( currently flying Calidus mostly
Total Flight Time
Don't know exactly, ca. 3000 hours
Reading recently a rumour that Rotorway now offers (or plan to offer) their engines converted for horizon crankshaft I thought that this engine may be interesting for a gyro as well.
We flew a dozen of them (in helicopters) for hundreds hours instantly at high rpm without any problems.

Any comments/suggestions?

I had a 162 carb engine in my Scorpion. it was designed to run at 4,200 in flight. I do know that the 162 had rocker arm problems, you had to keep adjusting them.( solid lifters) and I did not like the oil pump, it had what they called a G rotor pump, mine lost prime twice just sitting in the shop. the more I learned about that rotorway engine the more I did not like it. many years ago Rotorway made a version of the 133 engine for fixed wing use. once in awhile you see one for sale, but they never went over very well. the 162 engine is really only rated at 150 h.p. 162 is the cubic inches of the engine.
will be intresting to see if they do make another fixed wing engine.
