The event schedule for ROTR 2015 is now available at this link: (Edit: Also now pasted below)

ROTR Event Schedule

There will be lots of new things to see this year! TAGNA will be flying the Titanium Explorer, Heath Lowry expects to receive his airworthiness certificate on the first completed Aviomania gyro in the US (and the first in the world with Yamaha power), Brock Steiner is bringing SHredo (SparrowHawk) and has agreed to do an informal presentation on his many modifications, and thrust and hang tests are back, including double-hang test availability.

As Desmon has announced elsewhere, we're adding a photo/video contest this year, with prizes for those who best capture the spirit of rotorcraft flight in this unique environment. Content perspective can be from the ground or in-flight, and all photos and video submitted will become the non-exclusive property of URA, Inc. The contest is sponsored by TAGNA and SoloShot2, who are donating the grand prize of a SoloShot2 robotic camerman! This is an amazing new technology you can preview here:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVyYWy4dgc8

SoloShot2 works with both video cameras and compatible DSLR cams, and is a $369 value! The second and third prizes will be $50 and $25 cash, respectively.

The schedule is tentative, but we don't expect any further changes. If it turns out that weather limits the flight window on any day of the schedule, forums will be moved earlier or later as needed. Venues may change if presentations evolve to require more space or an indoor environment.

Events noted as "Unofficial Group Activity" are not organized or supervised by URA, but are merely down-time provided in the schedule for off-site meals and cross-country flights which have traditionally been favorites among attendees. Arrange pre-flight briefings specific to your flight with an instructor if you wish to participate in the cross-country flights.

Our main presenter Friday evening is expected to be Mark Jennings-Bates, a reknown paraglider, car rally champion, adventurer and business trainer who is planning a round-the-world flight in a new fly-drive vehicle. More details will be announced in his presentation. There are plenty of dreamers in theis field, but Mark has the track records and, most important, the wherewithall to make his plan a reality. Mark and his associates have been https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXWB3GYyja0 at AirGyro. We expect an interesting presentation!

We have four CFIs offering training at ROTR this year, Mike Burton and Brandon Winters from Airgyro Aviation (AutoGyro MTO Sport/Calidus/Cavalon), Cammie Patch from Glass Cockpit Aviation (Calidus), and Desmon Butts of Texas Autogyro (Titanium Explorer). Contact info is provided for each at the bottom of the schedule for scheduling times for ground or flight instruction.

The Days Inn in Brigham City is within three miles of the airport. There is a more economical option in the Galaxie Motel in town, and a new Hampton Inn which has opened since last year's event. I'll post info here ASAP. Admission and on-airport camping are free, but there are no water or elecgtrical hookups, and no showers on the airport.

The schedule will be updated as needed between now and June 9. See you there! Schedule below:

ROTR General Information

Brigham City Airport (KBMC) is in Class G airspace up to 700' AGL. 100LL available on the field 24/7 with credit card. Auto fuel available nearby.

CTAF is 123.05 Mhz. All rotorcraft announce "clear" on CTAF when starting engines, props or rotors. (Will be heard on PA system). All engine starts are to be in designated areas, or minimum 500' from pedestrians. Calm wind runway is 35.

Gyroplanes use left pattern at 500' AGL (4,729 MSL) for both runways 17 and 35, well inside a typical fixed-wing pattern.; downwind leg should be approximately over Airport Road, outside camping/parking areas. No takeoffs or landings on taxiways. No spiral descents or other non-standard approaches to the runway!

Helicopters use standard pattern when practical; use right pattern to avoid fixed-wing traffic.

Camping is free on the airport starting June 9, but no showers or electrical/water/sewer hookups for RVs available. Motel chains have locations nearby along I-15 and in Brigham City. Reserve early for best rates.

Camping alternatives:

KOA, 1040 W 3600 S - (435) 723-5503
Golden Spike, 905 W 1075 S - (435) 723-8858

Hangar - Indoor overnight parking is available for small rotorcraft with two-bladed rotors on a first-come, first-served basis. A $20 donation to URA is requested to help cover hangar rent.

Directions to Airport - From I-15, take Utah Exit 365. Turn east at the bottom of the ramp and proceed about 200 yards, then turn left on Airport Road. At the end of the road look for Gate #1 on your right, which should be open during event hours.

Awards - Grand and Reserve Champion Rotorcraft, Innovation, Farthest Traveled, Dead Dinosaur Award (most observed flying in the opinion of the judges), and Pilot & Machine (judged by fellow pilots.) Awards will be presented at the Saturday Banquet.

Thank you, paul!

Thank you, paul!

Getting more excited all the time!!! :rapture:

We're considering moving the window for the Logan Pancake Breakfast Cross-Country a half-hour earlier, if we can realistically get pilots awake and ready to be wheels-up by 7:30am, to catch the most attendees there. If you're planning to participate, let me know your thoughts.

The folks at Leading Edge Aviation, the FBO at Logan which puts on the breakfast, are very excited to know they may have gyros coming. Last time it happened, some fixed-wingers from the breakfast came over to check out the gyros at ROTR. This year, one of the crew at the FBO says he's already interested in rotorcraft. Sounds like a worthwhile trip all the way around!

It looks like there's going to be so much going on, I won't be able to catch all I want to (again), but it sure will be a great event. Look forward to seeing everyone there this year.
