The Dead

The Dead

Ron, sorry we missed your Birthday yesterday. We stayed over in Philly after the Dead concert at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ . The show was excellent & so was the weather! We wished we could have stayed for the second show. After check-out we headed for the Independence Brewpub. Really nice place & the menu looked great. I had to read it through the glass because they were CLOSED on Sunday....bummer! They are located close to the Liberty Bell. So we settled for food & drinks at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Anyway, We're home and want to wish you a late "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"!

Good luck with that other thing also. I hope you did at least a little flying yesterday. See ya, Chris & Shar

Ron,

Hope this year will be a good one!

Today is the first smoke free day of the rest of your life!!

Congratulations, and keep it going.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this time, but it CAN BE DONE!

(When you yearn for that sig, remember the giro you can buy with the money you save!)

Ron,
I quit smoking after 45 years of two plus packs a day. I had tried many times without success. The last time, three years ago, I quit by putting a few drops of Tahitian Noni under my tonge every waking hour for the first few days.

I quit without any withdrawal sympthoms at all and have been smoke free for over three years now. My wife still smokes and it does not even bother me. The success rate with the Noni juice is 56% which is better than about any other method.

I still drink Noni juice for other problems like rhumatoid arthritis which is now in total remission. I should have quit twenty years ago and I wouldn't have emphasema today. Whatever it takes to quit is worth it in the long run.

P.S. Happy Birthday and hope you have many more.

Birthdays and smoking.

Birthdays and smoking.

I used a product called "Zyban"

That was 9 years ago.
Now and then I get the urge to go get a smoke but they are getting fewer and farther apart.

I subbed sunflower seeds.
I tried to teach Chuck how to shell and spit while at SX Days but he seemed to be a reluctant student.

Yeah, blame it all on me, huh? How about the instructor, you don't think that just maybe he wasn't the best teacher.

Hey Ron, I was smoking RYO PA, pipes, cigars and Winstons when I quit 37 years ago.

I used two products that really helped me quit. They were called Skoll and Red Man.
Then 32 years later, I quit them too.

Ron,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I quit smoking April 21, 1998(my wife's birthday), after 30 years with the Marlboro Man.

The only secret to quitting is truly WANTING to.

Of course, you'll be pi**ed off at the world for a while. My wife says the hardest thing she ever did was me quitting smoking. But hang in there, it does get easier.

Well thanks everyone. Today I haven't been too grumpy except maybe earlier when fighting with Ken about my Fixed wing pics. I did smoke though.... Had about two draws off one cigarette before I went to work this late morning and had about four or five draws off another so far tonight. This is good though cause by this time of the day I would have already burned about 12-15 cigs, with another 5 or 6 more before I hit the sack.

I agree with Pat, the best help for quitting is simply just wanting and I mean really wanting to Quit. I do want to quit but not sure if I Really want to or not. I do know it will be lot easier to quit in the winter since I would have to go out on the porch in the freezing temps to have a smoke - I quit smoking in the house when my Son was born - So I am going to try, but might give in.

Hey, Ron. Don't be negative, man. You have so much interesting achievements at your curriculum. Don't fool yourself, you made a great progress today. I know it is not easy (a doctor said on TV cigarretes are harder to stop than cocain!), but we trust you.

I think if I looked in a mirror right now, I probably look like the kid in your avatar. I want a smoke BAD right now!

Ron,

This is a rotorcraft forum, not a smoking forum, Why won't you follow the rules? Something like this should be in the "Off-Topic" area....uh, yeah, right. Forget I brought it up....

Pretend you have a countdown timer set for 21 days and running. That little rush you feel when you breath that stuff in is the "reset" button being mashed. Find anything else to do when the urge hits.

Well, OK, not a piece of chocolate cake...

Well Happy Birthday!!!(belated) Ron. Just now checkin this thread and see you have decided to give yourself and your family a great present! Several people I know chew a fresh stick of sugarless gum when they get the urge.Good Luck

Ron I don't have any secret answers on "how to quit".

Just hang in there.

Ron I've battled it a long time. Fell off the wagon and then got back on. So don't get discuraged if you do. I use the nicatine gum. Helps me alot. I get the store brand as it's cheaper, same thing. Good luck.

Tony

I am trying guys. Not worried about the money I will save by not buying cigarettes, worried about my health down the road.
