I was just on Ron Menzies great website - looking for his email.

Went exploring and found his 2017 - Autobiography of his life in gyroplanes!

Guess this is one legend in our gyro-world - that I will NOT be interviewing for PRA E-zine content!

He already has a wonderful comprehensive narrative of his life in gyroplanes! With many great photos!

Ron's website - http://www.ronsgyros.com/default.html#

Ron's book "Though the years with Pride" - http://www.ronsgyros.com/RonMenzieStory.pdf

I'm amazed I did not hear of / know about his story before! Surely someone here would have linked-to mentioned it???(and I missed it!)

I highly recommend everyone read about one of our greatest legacy to modern gyro CFI's DPEs! It's a great story well written!

My first gyro ride (a SxS gyroglider) was at age 14 with Ron in Rhode Island, circa 1970. It was winter. We didn't have snowmobile suits to wear, just righteous Yankee wool coats.

Not to be outdone, Jack Gordon, Ron's then business partner in their Bensen dealership, gave us a demo in his powered B-8M. How he evaded frostbite, I don't know.

It was years later before Ron moved down to Arkansas.

That explains the accent and lack of Southern Draw. I remember him coming to Bensen Days and flying the crap out of his Super Mac.

I did my checkride/practical test with him last year. Very enjoyable experience.

Ron was my DPE - for my PPR-gyro rating (first & only rating) test in October 2014.

I'm thinking of flying over to visit him for my Flight-review due by end of August this year!

Feeling like I need thorough tune-up and test!

The Gyro that he landed in the ocean and recovered now resides in the back of the hangars in Anahuac, TX.
