The coolest thing about Christmas was looking through the mail order catalog at all of the new toys. Then when Spring came along the Montgomery Wards catalog was full of go karts, boats, pellet guns, camping gear AND THEN... my life was changed forever

It's real, and thanks to ebay I have a copy of the Summer 1964 Wards catalog. Imagine the lawsuits?

I think I remember hearing that Bensen dealer, Russ Jansen of Ridott, IL. flew his gyro from the roof of the Evergreen Plaza, Evergreen Park, IL. parking garage next to the Wards store.

It may have been the fanciful thinking of a young boy who would have given anything to have seen a real gyro at the time. I can't imagine a Bensen dealer promoting his prime competition.

No Replies??? I'm totally shocked

I thought most of you youngun's would be amazed that Monkey Wards actually had a big enough brain fart to think selling any flying machine would be a good idea (or was this before the days when lawyers ruled the land)

I can't believe I missed this the first time! Thanks for the picture Tom. I saved it to my hard drive.

A department store in Chicago once sold Ercoupes. They had one hanging from the ceiling. I have a photo and the ad in a book.

I'm not sure, Tom. I have the book in the hangar and I'll look it up.
