Relax: self-training landings video

I posted a direct link HERE. I copied it to my server, but it's only there temporarily for a day or two so people having problems viewing it now can see it. Hope the chapter 34 folks don't mind. I'm just trying to help in a pinch.

You can also right-click and save the link (target) to your hard drive.

Thank you Brian. Maybe he should add that strut type landing gear

Thank you Brian.

Ron, Don't feel bad, I was using FTP software and couldn't get it either.

I got thru using my FTP software (cuteFTP works great). That is one lucky guy!!!

The camera man, the bystanders and the windsock are all lucky too!!

If you use your pause button and look very closely, there is a total moron riding in the back seat! On about the second landing as he turns in front of the camera, you can see the passenger remove his hand/arm from the back of the front seat.

Alex, That video had me on the end of my seat! Should be required viewing for all students of what not to do! It could be labeled, "Stupid Human Tricks!" Thanks for sharing!

I'd say if he's teaching himself to fly, he's not doing so bad. I'm guessing everyone botches a landing once in awhile.

You know what they say; any landing you can walk away from is a good one, if you can fly the airplane again it's a great one.

I received some video of a guy who build his 2-seat enclosed gyro not far from Moscow and tried to train himself in it.
From what I know about this contraption it has (well, it haD  ) RAF rotor, Sub EA-82 engine and a PSRU copied from RAF's one. A guy is former skydiver which is apparent when seeing his flying :) He decided to save some cash on getting proper training and tried to trash his gyro for some times until succeeded finally (no injuries fortunately).[/QUOTE]

But look how strong that thing is,it dropped what 15 feet and survived. and it looked pretty stable even for an enclosed tandam, think of how well it would have flown in the hands of a good Gyro Pilot.
I like the design.
so i take it he finely did tear it up?

There was in instructor on board, there is a scene whe you see a guy in the back seat put his hand on the front guys shoulder....

Pretty sure there are a few ugly landings in my future. (training now) glad to see these things can hold up to some abuse. :D :D

I hope that wasn't an instructor in the back seat! It wasn't just the landings that were bad, but the approaches were also terrible. An instructor should at least make sure the student is able to establish a stabilized approach on the proper glide path before allowing him to land. A go-round was definitely called for on several of those landings.

It wasn't instructor for sure, just a passenger, probably pilot's dad. Also it isn't obvious from these frames but other parts of video show that the craft isn't pitch stable: I saw apparent pitch yaws instantly during take-offs, level flight and on approaches. Probably this pilot is lucky that he trashed his gyro before the instability showed it's teeth.
