RAF 2000 Management System

RAF 2000 Management System

Hi Guy's

Hope you all are well and flying save. Some updates on our New Engine Management system.

Since our Launch we have replaced and installed a fair amount of the new systems in our RAF Fleet here in South Africa. We have also exported systems to Canada and now have an Agent in Canada that can install the system as well do the tuning of your engine.

The new system reduces the wiring dramatically as well as getting rid of more than 5 Engine sensors ( Less problems)

It is very easy to install and will not take the average guy more than a couple of hours.

The system comes pre programmed with firmware as well as Mapping. If any tuning needs to be done it will be minute and 99% of the time no tuning is required. The system also comes with software so you are able to tune the engine yourself. The software can also be updated via the internet if we make any changes to it.

We are currently seeing more than 1,7 GPH fuel saving on the EJ25 engine. This dramatically increases the Range of the RAF as well as the engine running much cleaner than in the past.

We have conducted some thrust tests as well and have found with the old system we pulled about 550 to 570 lbs of thrust with a warp drive 4 bladed prop pitched at 11,5 degrees at 5200 Rpm.

By just installing the new system we were able to pull 626 lbs of thrust with the same setup at 5100Rpm.

The CPU is water proof as well as impact proof. It is also internally protected so will not short or burn out in the event of a electrical short or plugs plugged in incorrectly.

Normal Price for the system is $1850-00 Excluding shipping.

RAF SA is currently running a Special on the system for ONLY $1500-00 excluding shipping.

You can Place your orders with [email protected] or [email protected]

Kind Regards
Eben Mocke Jnr

The CPU is water proof
Look like Amp\Molex + D connector how do you waterproof them ? are pins tin or gold plated ?
Is the unit serviceable or potted design ?

Hi

Hi

HI 500e

The unit is Potted system.

I will post a video here soon of us unplugging the unit , dipping it in a glass of water re-connection it and then start the engine with no problem.

A quick dunk does not cause problems usually, it is the damp that corrodes connections & causes hi resistance.
The communications industry found this out years ago with low current circuits, the motor industry still has a long way to go.:eek:hwell:
So we have a potted unit with tin plated connectors including the D ?
In my world tin plate not a good decision potted configuration is debatable good for water\damp not good if unit goes down, Unless the cost is reasonable to replace unit
This is not an attack on this unit in particular but a general overview, I work on electronics in boats, aero, auto, the vast majority of problems are connections

Good to see the update with the ECM,I have been using an aftermarket unit for 500+

trouble free hours on my turbocharged 2.5 RAF,less wires and sensors less trouble and

is a very clean installation.

By the way how much fuel in the aux tanks,is there enough to get rid of the seat tank?

Best regards,eddie.....

Hello SARAF,
Question. Are you not manufacturing parts in the Canadian facility? I was going to order $200 worth of parts, but the shipping was $230 to the US. I assumed it was that high because it was being shipped from SA.

I work on cars and motorcycles. Whenever I can, I use some dielectric grease inside the connectors. Never had a comeback for a dirty connector.

Eben, your new ad looks sharp, and congrats on the highly efficient fuel mgt. system for the 165hp motor. Since the ad seems to target new gyro owners, does the marketing of the 165hp RAF mean that RAFSA has rescinded or modified Product Notice 38 cautioning RAF pilots with <400 hours to avoid the more powerful EJ2.5?

Note: This Warning does not apply to RAF 2000 gyroplane pilots with 400+ hours on the RAF 2000 Gyroplane. A qualified RAF 2000 Gyroplane CFI should provide transitional training for all gyroplane pilots that wish to install this 160 HP EJ2.5 Subaru Engine on the RAF 2000 Gyroplane.

160 HP EJ2.5 Subaru Engine This engine is not recommended for use in the RAF 2000 Gyroplane for normal operation.

RAF 2000 Gyroplane owners, using the 160 HP EJ2.5 Subaru Engine, in order to become competent to handle the additional power and thrust, must obtain additional flight and ground handling training.
I.e., is your 165hp RAF now suitable for new and low-time gyro pilots?

Speaking of RAF Product Notices, what is the link on your website for them? Such would be very helpful to the owners, especially purchasers of used machines. Thanks, Kolibri

RAFSA's EJ2.5 caveat, but with no link to Product Notice 38

RAFSA's EJ2.5 caveat, but with no link to Product Notice 38

There is a "warning" on RAFSA's order form, but with no link to Product Notice 38, thus potential buyers must be wondering what it's about. Perhaps it would avoid confusion if RAFSA would simply state on that form that the EJ2.5 kit requires 400 hours of previous RAF experience.

Why doesn't RAFSA archive all RAF Product Notices on their website?

Why doesn't RAFSA archive all RAF Product Notices on their website?

Why doesn't RAFSA archive all RAF Product Notices on their website?

This is a safety issue, especially for owners of used RAFs.
