2017 marks the 50th anniversary of PRA Chapter 18, The Greater Midwest Rotorcraft Club.
Located in Lansing, Illinois, chapter 18 is about 10 miles south of the Chicago metroplex, very near the Indiana state line. The club moved to Lansing Municipal Airport (KIGQ) in the late seventies, after losing our private airfield in Frankfort, IL. to urban sprawl.
Our chapter has many activities planned for 2018, starting off with our Polar Bear fly-in, an event we have held every New Years day for the last twenty or so years. There used to be a rush to see who would be the first-to-fly in the new year, but common sense (or old age) now has the event centered around food.
(FAQ) The lowest temperature gyro flight, in our club, that I am aware of, was 14 degrees Fahrenheit.
In an attempt to grow the PRA chapters, we will document our activities throughout the year.
Tom Milton, Chapter 18 Newsletter Editor (I was the youngest when I joined PRA 18 in 1974, and now I am the member with the most years in the club) Where does the time go?
