Political Postings

Besides, it's Todd's forum he can make any rule he wants. If you don't like it don't log on.

All these are political posts, you feel empowered when your way wins.
I did not see diretc intervention by a moderator calling some guy´s attention for his behavior.
It is always when one of the band is cornered that the scissor come out, that person will retaliate bellow the belt . . .that is what makes it ugly.
Lets all shut now and talk about more pink stuff (heads out of the gutter please)

Now you have adopted socialism you should realise that they will soon come after your right to fly amateur built aircraft. The politicians will never keep their noses out of your lives from now on. So maybe politics has more to do with gyrocopters than people realise! As for it 'getting nasty' ...don't open the thread if you lack a backbone!

What I don't understand is why is it that none of you guys has the resources or motivation to either, 1. find a good political forum and paste a link here for forum members to go there to discuss the pros and cons of politics or 2. make a new forum specifically for polictical discussion, and again paste a link here to go there.

Todd doesn't want this stuff debated here. He owns the forum and in the end we are all guests in his house, so his rules are THE rules, bottom line.

It is not that there isn't important stuff to discuss, but this is not the place to discuss it.

Robert, your a computer wizard... you even threatened to start up a new " Free " forum if this one started charging for annual membership. You also seem to really enjoy the polictical discussions. So why not take the bull by the horns and start a new forum, call it Rotorcraftpolitics.com or something for you guys to discuss away?

Bensen Days is only weeks away. When and where will the big politics discussions and debates take place there? Just curious, since that seems to be such a hot topic here.

LOL :) I personally invite any of the wussies that are so hot behind the safety of their monitor and keyboard to debate me in person. I will be there baby. Bring it on. :flame: Looking forward to it!

Gabor after you posted a pic of you wrestling your dog, probably not many:lol:

Todd- That was a wise move to shut down these political threads. I have never seen anyones opinion be changed by debating that then usually turns to arguing, followed by name calling, and then shutting down the thread. Gabor- I agree with your line of thinking whole heartedly, but even if I didn't, you would not change my thinking in a face to face debate, nor would I change yours. I hate arguing politics. I know where I stand and seldom get drawn into these kind of debates. Same goes for religious topics. I know what I believe and what I don't believe. I doubt I can change any ones mind by debating . That picture was 10 + years ago.... all that muscle has turned to flubber, and he replaced the big manly dogs with a pair of kitty cats. :smokin:

just messing with you Gabor, I am sure you would still kick alot of butt!

LOL you guys. Leigh I was just referring to the instant name calling when there is no more factual debate (can't really argue facts so they have to resort to name calling) and I love to be called all kinds of things that I bet 99% would not do at arm's length. I am not a violent person.... :) Besides I promised my wife not to kill anymore...... Although I am known to have Oldhemier's moments :) Ron ya know those two cats can be a handful at times :) And what about Yoshi? He doesn't count as a dog? I'll tell on you. Maybe next time you won't be able to lure him into the room to sleep with Casey hehehehe. Happy Easter guys :)

Agreed. Although I have seen opinions change, but they didn't have a strong one from the beginning. Obviously not the case here:) 17 days but who is counting?

Funny to see some gloating with the procedures but never coming in to play to help moderate the debate.
The bullies won on more time, those who had good intentions have to swallow another imposed defeat.
Repeat a lie many times . . . or something on that line.
I am not able to reply when called bleeding heart liberal . . .don´t now what to call my counterpart . . .

We are the land of ideas. Do opinion's change? I believe it was 98 when I joined Norm's forum. The RAF was a visible two passenger gyro.

My first sight of a RAF was in a shed, it had 25 hrs, and rolled up in a ball. Talking to the pilot, he had a hard landing, stopped upside down with gas dripping on him. A pilot of 25 years he was scared of the RAF. I basically gave up on the idea of a gyro.

Then came the years of heated debates on CLT, horizontal stab, the different mods to the RAF. Not only did opinion's change, this forum saved people lives. There were very knowledgeable individuals on this forum (in my opinion) that stood up and change the gyro industry. Look at the number of good, well designed gyro's developed in the last 5 years.

This is the only forum I visit. For years it has been my way of breaking away during the day from chaotic schedules. Kenny J.'s travels, mods, big toe, Stan's "guess my gyro's color", and 100s of projects.

Political postings; Has not been that big of a problem until the country became divisive due mostly to jobs/unemployment, pinching of the pocketbook, Gov. spending, attempts at social & economic behavior modifications, state vs fed rights. Then we became thin skinned, especially Garbor.

As time's change, opinion's change.

True that many do not change their stance, but intelligent well informed polite debate can introduce ideas to people who had not seen things in a particular way before.

It gives a view of a subject seen through other eyes and can, to my mind, plant a seed that may, or may not germinate and effect a possible change.

If not of a particular viewpoint, at the very least an appreciation of how the other side see a particular topic, be it politics, climate change, naked ladies, political correctness, the flight characteristics of an RAF 2000, or whatever other hot button issues we all seem to love to hold forth about.

Problem is intelligent well informed polite debate can prove to be in short supply as Todd has seen, and taken action over. :)

Larry I don't believe I am thin skinned. I never shy away from a good debate. Until the typical name calling starts. Even than I don't shy away but usually my remarks DO get deleted so you never see them by time you get to it. Sorry. Just love to fire back one notch above the degree of the received insult! I do love to debate as long as there is a "partner" to debate with. My latest opposition was not only way below the level but also a coward and resorted to a pretty low act. I am only sorry about not putting him on ignore much sooner than I actually did. At the same time I wish quotes wouldn't still show the ignored one's postings. :der: What's the purpose putting one on ignore when someone quotes him it still shows right there. So I am sort of glad Todd made the new rule. As for the RAF 2000. You were open to accept proof and the facts to change your mind Larry. You did. And you were not singing the rhetorical talking points. You looked, listened, and decided for yourself by examining the facts no? I am the same way. I read, listen, examine, and process all the info and decide for myself of what I think. I don't follow too well...... My bad! If standing up for something makes me thin skinned.....well....I'll accept it I guess. See? I listened, examined, and decided for myself Larry. We did good didn't we? Nice peaceful and intelligent. We could probably even talk politics..... LOL Of course not here :) Have a good one

It all comes down to politics . . .
Information
Irony
Cinism
Opinions
The only bad thing is knee jerk politics, that is what causes name calling, which I still don see around here.
Some will stand their ground with lots of noise and misinformation but they are trained that way . . .see all in black and white.
I still have not seen a moderator call someone to attention and pull some ears . . .it is all a melee until someone gets angry and pulls the trigger.
As a BB referee I have seen plenty of it, Officials that have no guts get cornered and then come out firing, making the show suffer.
But why are we talking politics again? :D

Well I see it a bit differently from you. Name calling is the absence of being able to debate substance. Previous posting illustrates it very well. See thin skinned comment! When we are defeated in the arena of ideas then we change to character discussion see if that sticks. When they run into one who is willing to engage them and sink to the level, the automatic name calling comes into play, and the thread gets shut down. It is well thought out my friend it is not by accident :) This shouldn't be treated as a basketball game. And moderators are doing a great job by remaining neutral. If you ask them to decide for one side or the other that will spark some opposition. So the way I see it. Todd's sandbox. Todd's rules. And he said no throwing sand in here. I am game :) Now send me some of that Tea Heron!

Significant point or should I say missed approach, Dry humor, parody, often wit, do not work well in the written text and lacks facial expressions. Gabor, your are not on the list of thin skinned. It was my attempt at humor. (Having said that, who ever heard of anyone gluing a gyro together with JB weld?). First reaction was WHAT the heck? But my opinion change on that too.

Heron, in our HS BB they added another Ref. What happened? Nobody called anything, the Refs all look at each other to see who was going to make the call, or just one Ref makes all the calls even if he is not in position! It was far better with two refs with designated areas to cover.
