After revisiting photos of the 1941 Pitcairn PA-39 Autogiro - N3908 at the EAA museum it is to my understanding that Picarin purchased back all the remaining PA-19s (minus one PA-19) and rebuilt the airframes into PA-39s for sale to the RAF. The new PA-39s were then loaded onto a ship bound for England. Unfortunately, the ship was sunk by a U-Boat. The Picarin company kept one for further testing (N3908). It is interesting the autogyro had a "Control Yoke" instead of a cyclic control stick.
