I just removed a post that in my opinion was a personal attack on two people that had nothing to do with gyroplanes.
I don't want to be a policeman so please lets stick to gyroplanes.
I feel the Rotary Wing Forum is not the place for politics or personal attacks.
Thank you.

I want to see that removed post. In fact, I think the Forum members, not just one piece of a creature like Vance, should decide whether to remove any post or not. I would 100% trust him in quoting some rules and regulations from all kinds of sources, but not in judging humans. I personally just would never trust him!

Exactly.
What if someone points out where Vance was (dare I say it...) "wrong" about something and Vance decides that such is a "personal attack" and removes it?
Most would thus never know about 'the Mentone incident', for example.
Curious, why brag about deleting a post?
Just to cow the participants into "behaving" per YOUR standard?
I disagree with censorship (anti-First Amendment) of speech.

Too many to count
If people would interact like adults it would be no problem….. but when it gets to childish name calling or character degrading…… it’s not acceptable.
We’re all family here!!

"...I disagree with censorship (anti-First Amendment) of speech."
The First Amendment states that our government cannot prohibit or censor speech.
It does NOT cover private property, such as someone's home or business or even an internet forum.

A private property owner does not have to allow anyone who wants, on his Private Property, to converse, publish, assemble peacefully, worship any religion they wish, nor any other freedoms the government cannot prohibit. It is important to distinguish between the freedoms allowed by our Constitution & private property rights.

This RWF is Todd Powell's private property that he set up to keep rotorcraft knowledge alive & to promote safety w/ the help of rotorcraft-interested people from around the globe. He has the right to allow what he wants expressed on his private property.

He has specifically stated many times to take politics elsewhere. Personal attacks, profanity, & posting of repeated words typed by childish behaviorists round out the four items not allowed on his forum.

Expression of religious beliefs here seem to go unmentioned, since this is a rotorcraft forum, but have you noticed that there are plenty of other places on the world-wide web one can find that topic?

There are many who very well like this forum that way!
Lots of freedom here.
Just avoid the "crud" of uncivilized keyboard behavior.

If someone doesn't like the rules in this sandbox, there are plenty of other sandboxes to get down into the mud & fling it around.

I am good with sticking with rotorcraft topics here and anything directly related to it like flying topics with a joke here and there. Personal attacks and politics do not belong here. You want personal attacks, I suggest you go attend the Oscars or better yet host them.

Todd has made it clear that he doesn’t want personal attacks or politics on the Rotary Wing Forum and Kevin and I volunteered to help Todd with managing the forum.

We have emptied the approval queue and several people have been very cooperative about modifying their posts to delete the politics.

I had a post that relived the posters old hurts and went on at length about how horrible two forum members are so I deleted it.

I wrote a note to the poster so he would know why I deleted his post and what to expect.

I started this thread to let people know what to expect.

If someone feels that I have overstepped my authority they can contact Todd and see if he agrees.

I have volunteered to help keep the Rotary Wing Forum going because I feel it has value for the gyroplane community.

I have no desire to be a policeman so I am asking for help from the members to manage your posts and report posts that you feel violate the Rotary Wing Forum’s policies.

There is a little box in the lower left hand corner of the screen that if you check it Kevin or I will have a look at the post to determine if it violates the Rotary Wing Forum’s policies.

As a moderator I have a line at the top of the screen to let me know what to do, the notice of a report will appear there.

Well, it starts like that: In "old times" we had a lot of knowledgeable people who shared with us their wisdom on this Forum. And we were very appreciative to them for that, but have never stood up and sang "Glory" every time their names were mentioned. Thank God, many of them are still with us now. Of course, everything is changing. New people - new "atmosphere". But I hope "WOKE" won't crawl in. Meanwhile, why not start ( for "wonderful yet suspicious" people like me) a new thread "Deleted posts"?
Abid, to get there, first you need to be a real clown. You are great at what you do now with gyros. So, hope you won't change your profession :)

Almost daily, we have new members asking to join this forum. Usually one, but sometime 2-3. A lot of them are here in reading mode, but some start posting right away. You may have noticed a couple of them are in the UK. There have been some from Australia added recently.

The forum software indicates if someone asking to join has previously been associated w/ Spam IP addresses, so we can filter them out of joining.

I'm glad this forum has survived over the years. The malcontents have pretty much disappeared, either through being banned or leaving on their own accord. The ones who were temporarily banned have changed their tune WRT their objectionable posts.

I see this period as a GREAT time to enjoy the vast rotorcraft knowledge this forum represents and learning possibilities for many of us who don't know it all!

Remember back in school when you had to study whatever the subject was being taught? It didn't matter if you weren't interested in that subject, or not. You were forced to study it!

Here, we have a learning place that whets our appetites to learn more. Also, it is a sharing place for other's benefit. Lives can be saved by that shared knowledge!

Just in the last week, many have learned how to avoid the expensive mistakes of attempting gyroplane flight b/4 the rotorblades are sufficiently coaxed into flight mode. Covered by the gyroplane CFIs, some new pilots forget some of what they're taught. They learn the hard way.

Those who have other vested interests in causing dissension, "woke-ness" & discord have the rest of the WWW to spew on.

I agree w/ Vance in that if anyone has issues they are having w/ Vance or myself as moderators on the RWF, and they want to address those issues w/ the owner of this forum, Todd Powell, feel free to contact him.
Just click the "Report" box as Vance mentioned @ the lower left of each post.
Or, he has posted his email address previously: toddpow(AT)gmail(DOT)com.

It reads to me like you are asking for a place on the Rotary Wing Forum to post things that Todd doesn’t want on the Rotary Wing Forum.

I feel that is not going to work out.

I take the responsibility seriously and will endeavor to earn your trust.

The simple answer is if you want to insult someone or talk politics take it somewhere else.
