The renewal of my permit to fly of my Bensen gyro in 1988.
From 1967 to 1980 I was flying without any papers and was completely illegal.
The reason was the authorities, (as always...)
I remember even the first time in 1967, when I visited the local CAA office in Nicosia Cyprus for registration of my Bensen gyro and permit to fly certificate. The only thing they didn’t do was to throw me out. They didn’t know what a microlight was at that time and no regulations for such things.
Once I told them that I was not going to disturb them anymore but, also I didn’t want them to disturb me every time I was going to fly. I promise not to fly close to airport (there was only one airport at that time) and not higher than two/three thousand ft. AGL.
Anyhow, thirteen years later, in 1980, things changed after many efforts/fights.
My first Permit to Fly fee costed 0.25 Cyprus Pounds cents (less than$ 0.50 cents.) In 1988 they increased it to 5.00 Pounds.
