Oldest De Havilland Chipmunk on Earth Hits Antenna Tower!

A De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk (LV-NRY) struck an antennae almost ripping off the wing sending debris into the crowd watching the aircraft display. The pilot was not injured on November 5, 2022 at Bragado Airfield, Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Sad. Have a number of hours in Chippies both service and civilian, a forgiving and rather robust basic trainer, which I enjoyed flying.

I also rather liked using the Coffman starter of the service models with their loud cack and fizz to announce one's presence. A magazine of six overcharged 12 bore cartridges without the pellets.

The narrator seems to say the pilot was both lucky and unlucky (or fortunate/unfortunate) at the same time, but I'm not sure those are words I would have used in this case...
