Hi folks,
I found a Butterfly Ultralight complete frame and I’m picking it up tomorrow morning, possibly for parts for my Brock KB2 modification, possibly to complete the Butterfly and sell the Brock project instead.
(The seller said her father built it in his garage from a kit, but passed away before he finished it. She had no idea of its relative value. She had an asking price of $1,000 but said to make an offer, so I offered $500 and she accepted.)
Regardless its rotor head is in what looks to be as new condition compared to the old and somewhat rusty one on my Brock. Plus it has part of the Butterfly prerotator already mounted:
Is the remainder of this prerotator assembly available anywhere?
If not, what type of motor would be necessary to complete this prerotator?
I have a 36v Stihl MSA200 battery powered chainsaw. The motor has a fair amount of torque and the trigger allows the power to be feathered so could it possibly be repurposed to run the prerotator?
I also have a Bafang e bike 48v motor, but figuring out how to add its electronic control and trigger throttle would seemingly be more difficult.
On the other hand I could remove the Butterfly prerotator and just use the mounts to mount up a 12v Toyota starter as Barry recommended down at the Carolina Barnstormers.
