I just wanted to let the group know that after terrific add-on training from Lone Star Magni Gyro in the person of Dayton Dabbs at Taylor, TX; I passed my proficiency check-ride adding gyroplane to my certificate.

Dayton is one of the best teachers I have met in aviation. Making the transition from fixed wing to rotary wing included, inter alia, rigorous flight training and deep instruction related to rotary aerodynamics. Last year I was handed a challenge to learn more about gyroplanes and so I worked to get both historical perspective and flight experience. At the onset, I did not plan to add the privilege to my certificate, but the bug bit me and it was infectious. I think the Magni M-16 is infused with some sort of drug. Reading and other materials came from Phil Harwood, Steph and Greg Gremminger, Craig McPherson, Bruce Charnov, Timothy O'Connor and Jukka Tervamaki... and the pages of Powered Sport Flying Magazine while also lurking here on the forum.

So much more to learn and fun to have...

Thanks,
John Craparo
