2 props on 1 engine!

2 props on 1 engine!

Have everybody noticed, that there are 2 props on their engine?

Is that seen before?

He probably get a smaller diameter and maybe even a better eficiency - or?

It looks like a single engine with a shaft over the top driving both props-

2 paramotors

2 paramotors

Is that one engine or 2 small engines?

My first thought was 1 engine, but now I am quite sure it is 2 engines - I have taken a closer look :)
It look like 2 paramotors - probably about 25 hp each.

OK so it looks like they are counter rotating to offset torque, but wouldn't having them that close cause other problems?

dual props

dual props

my only concern would be from a safety issue
after my last fiasco and being able to examine wreckage close up I would be concerned that in a rollover or other incident that the possibility of the front engine prop doing something ugly to the pilot by breaking away or in some way rotating around the tube separating the front engine from the pilot
but, hey I guess thats why they call them "experimental"

There are some benefits with this - I think:

1. Smaller diameter of prop(s)
2. Cheap and ready to mount power units - all pre-assembled - redrive, prop, exchust etc.
3. No torque
4. Only 1 engine out - in that case
5. Better power out for pre rotor

But there are down sides too..

...But there are down sides too..

Wouldn't the props' efficiencies be way down, too? The first one is so close to the pilot that (apart from safety and noise considerations) it sees a lot of "dirty" airflow. And the second one is worse off to start with.

Closer compared to ......

Closer compared to ......

The first prop is not (or not much) closer to the pilot as on a normal paramotor.

As counter rotating props, I think they are arranged okay.
Intake is not so critical, and the critical area is at the perimeter of the prop - but I am not an expert.

On this picture the engines cylinders are up and the exhaust down .. :) Looks good - agree?
It would be interesting to know if it flyes and how.
