I thought it meant doing what you love most with your clothes on!
Exactly! People continually ask me when I'm going to retire. I tell them, "Since I'm doing exactly what I said I was going to do once I retired (teach people to fly every day), I may already BE retired! They just keep paying me very well to do what I love to do."

I simply can't imagine quiting what I love to do...building curved stairways. I am retired and doing what I love to do....building curved stairways.

I don't need the money, but I need brain stimulus! I never have worked weekends or past 4 pm....even when I was full time. I could have worked 12 hours a day...7 days a week ...and made a lot more money....but I would not have enjoyed life...would have been waiting for retirement to come. Instead I blew past 65 four years ago....

However, I limit myself to 3 days in my shop and 2 days for the queen....but after working for the queen, I look forward to getting back to my stair shop and getting
some rest. Ha

I feel the same way about flying! My first solo was in a Lilienthal type glider I built as a teenager. Really a slope glider. I still get a rush of pleasure every time I fly anything.

Just to be off the ground is a reward. My sweet wife, dearly loved, views flying as a mode of transportation. I view it as an experience unrivaled by any other.

1956 Cessna 172. No letter after the 172, it's too old.
I have no plans to retire... though I hope to be a gyro CFI before they force me to retire so I can do that instead. I'd go bonkers if I didn't have some sort of job to do. (I don't vacation well, either.)

I couldn't wait till I turned 55. Retired, went sailing for 12 years, had a business when we became commuter cruisers, moved to Texas, built our home, then along came Tom!

No time now except for flying or putzing on my Gyro!
