custom gyro
Hy to everyboy, I'm new here but I'm regularly reading the forum since the beginning.
Before I was registered in the old rotorcraft forum as Paulgyro.
I want to share with you my creation, it is an enclosed gyro that I have designed and builded by myself in 1 and 1/2 years.
It can be fully enclosed with a canopy (not shown in the pics), it is powered by a 912 rotax engine (80 hp), and it is a center line trust.
Infact it flyes very well and it is completly netrual to gas change (it has flown almost 10 hours).
I forgot to say that the fairing is structural (like racing F1 cars) and built by honeycomb/composit with vacuum bags method.
Prerotation was electrical but due to very poor performance I built a mechanical one with rigid shafts.
Comments welcome

Just curious..... Do you guys in europe use Standard hardware or Metric hardware when building your gyros?

also would like to see more pics of that cool little van in that one pic.

Metric hardware are STANDARD hardware...only USA uses imperial hardware!...

Wow! Very nice and impressive!

I like the paint job! Looks like a military aircraft. Does MACO refer to the shark(and paint job)?

Are you going to produce plans or a kit?

Nice looking gyro. Is this the first gyro you've built? Did you do the test flying? Great Work and I'm glad to see you finally registered...we'll expect to see and hear some more flying stories. :)

That is sharp! Good looking gyro, got any specs?

what I'm obaining is more than 100 mph max speed, cruise at 80 mph, I don't have any data about vertical speed but I can say it is impressive!!!!!
The good think is that is very manouvrable but incredibly stable at any speed
Mechanical prerotation is in devolping
Thank
Sapientino :)

Yes Mako refers to Mako shark painted on the fairing! i love military jet fighter and I wanted to have a gyro closer to that

Yes it is the first one, think that I begun to desing the gyro that I wasn't flying yet!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since I have little flying esperience (20 hours), I did the first test but soon I realize I didn't had enougut esperience (the first take off I pull it almost vertical!!!!) so I asked a friend of mine to perform tests flights.
The first flight he did he was so enthsiast of the gyro that he flew for 40 minutes before landing!!!!!!
Than after that everything was so ok that we didn't need to do any modifications apart from centering the cloche.
I'm really happy.
I must say that I have to thanks all of you because I learned a lot reading the forum.
For example center line trust is not considered so important in italy but now I see it is a grat improvement

for sure no plans, but I'm evaluating to produce a kit , I'm interested in your opinions also for this

I don't have any pics of my van anyway it is a Citroen Berlingo

We are very impressed with your machine! Excellent job!
What does a 912 cost in your part of the world?

The nosewheel is very interesting . I would love to see some closeups of it & possibly some pics of the steering system.

That is one cool gyro !!!!!

Here we use AN aircraft hardware that happens to be standard.... is your Metric hardware also AN grade?

great looking gyro, how about some close up pictures of the front wheel and fork assembly. Also the rear of the control rods and rotor head. What type of wheels did you use. Safe flying , is that grass strip in your yard?

Very nice, Paolo! My only concern would be the reduction in yaw stability with the canopy installed. You don't want the gyro to swap ends in flight.
