I haven't been posting for some time, but today is different.

Last night my 3 week old grandson quit breathing. He was flown to Atlanta to the childrens hospital. That's where I am now.

He is still on assisted breathing. They are not sure what the problem is.

For all you non Cube people, the ones that believe in God, I ask that you pray for my Grandson, Grason Nathaniel Ruffin to have a glorius and speedy recovery and that no side effects or damage to his body will come from this.

I Praise the Lord for the true blessing on this child that is about to happen.

God Bless You,
Phil

Phil,
My heart goes out to you. I will pray for you, your family, and your grandson. If you don't mind I'll ask our prayer chain to pray.

Thanks for all the kind words and prayers.
Right now he is stable and doing OK. The doctors are backing off on the Oxygen assist and he is 40% or so breathing on his own.

They are slowly backing off on it to see if he can breath on his own. They do not know what caused this problem and are stumped.

They will probably not find out because I believe he is cured already, they just don't know it yet.

Again, thanks for the prayers.

Phil

Phil, very good news. i whish he is safe. There are, sometimes, unexplained problems in the first months, that always make parents a little anxious, in your case, he is in good hands.
Regards

This morning the doctors did a spinal tap to check the fluid for infection, no word yet.
He is off life support now and breathing on his own. He should come home tomorrow.

Thanks again to all

Phil

Thank you for the update Phil, and for reminding us of what is really important. My heart is a little lighter. Thank you, Vance

Good luck to your grandson...

Good luck to your grandson...

I will say a prayer for him tonight.

You may want to research this on the web yourself but there are some simple things to reduce sids such as placing the baby on its back to sleep, no fluffy blankets, soft mattress etc. plus the requisite baby monitor. My wife swears by breast feeding although no statistics (I believe) back this up. Makes sense though as it strengthens the glottic muscles.

Being so young any hypoxic (lack of oxygen) damage can be grown out of as the brain can still repair itself.

Ken J. may have further information, best of luck to you and your family, sir.

Just read the thread and just said a prayer. May God heal your grandson compleetly and continue to grace your family with his presense.

Darrell,
Thanks to you and all for the thoughts, prayers and info.

We didn't know it until yesterday but his heart stopped during the flight to Atlanta, the Paramedic on board got it started again.

I saw on your Profile that you are a Paramedic also. I thank God for people like you.

Grason being the 3rd grandchild the things you listed were already in effect, except the monitor. He will have one before he returns home.

He was taken off all life support yesterday around 4:30PM or so and is doing fine. The hospital wants to keep him today and tomorrow for sure and maybe Wed. for observation.

All is good now, Thank you Jesus!

Phil
