I was cooling off on my Harley tonight....just cruising in the country where I fly all the time. Sure...it was nice...but there is NO comparison to flying a gyro. You are up there above it all....not confined to straight north/south...or east/west routes. You just get a whole different perspective.

Then there is the 12 month flying advantage.

The best thing about my Harley is it gets me to the airport.:D

Are you sure ?

"The best thing about my Harley is it gets me to the airport."

I dont know Stan, depending on year make and model....results vary....

Stan, whats the weather been by you, here in eastern NC it has been 90+ with heat factors to 113 f .

Just to hot to fly you will cook on the ground and the humidity will fog your goggles, glasses or anything else.

must........get..............cooler..............

heavy duty lightning storm this afternoon. Right after they got the power back, a tx cooked itself and I had to work in the shop without ac, only had a a generator limping along with my workload. I swear they do this stuff on purpose.

Stan, no back wheel shots? Come on big guy, show us your hog! What is it, a 883 Hugger? ;)

Ron: I just have a Sportster 883. I dont have any desire at all to invest anymore change in two wheels. One thing about a Harley...they hold their value well.

Now back in my H2 Kawasaki days....circa 1974...I had a Mach 1V Kawasaki H2. I put on Denco expansion chambers and gave it a port job....and changed the timing by grounding the skirts of the pistons. That thing was really peaky but it would haul butt. But by todays standards.....it would be a dog compared to the high strung crotch rockets.

Stan, I wouldn't have guessed a Sporty for you.... I would have guessed you ride either a Road King, or a Ultraclassic, or one of the BIG ones.... I like the Sportys myself.

Thinking my next bike will be a Suzuki SV650 with a set of aftermarket mufflers....

Stan, This winter when your all board & nothing to do pull the top end off your 883 & send it to me for a 1200 conversion. I will bore your cly`s from 3" to 3.500 & put big valves & seats in to get you to the airport in a quick manner if you know what I meen!

Ron, Jap bikes are like Bic lighters when your down with them you just throw them away!

Stan,
I would be more than happy to come up and haul the Sporty to the dumpster for you! Dumpster of my choice, naturally. :D
For anyone that likes odd bikes, there is a showroom condition 1981 Yamaha SR500 practically being given away on the Message Forum section of www.thumperpage.com for $1800. It's in MN. We almost bought it but Joyce is really set on a new XL1200R and we already have an '81 SR500.

I had a 99 Fat Boy. Killed my back so I got me a 03 1800 Goldwing Smooth as silk. Doesn't sound as good as a Hog but I can ride it forever. Only drawback on a bike is "no wings".

What is a “dirt bag” as related to a person? I am having difficulty understanding the colloquial speech.

It is hard for me to think of Stan, Ron or Tim as dirt bags, so I would be grateful to understand the reference.

I understand that this is a humorous reference, but usually slang has some consequential genesis and I would like to understand the joke.

Thank you, Vance
